Stampin’ Up! Meant to Be for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team Blog Hop

I hope you are all having a Terrific Tuesday as we head into the second week of the new year. And, before we can blink, we will be looking at the end of this same year. My, how time does fly!

Today’s team blog hop theme is ‘Love’, which we can interpret any way we choose. I have chosen the bundle that is all about love in the new Occasions catalog, “Meant to Be“, and have paired that with elements from “Beautiful Promenade“. If you are into romance, these sets are sure to be on your wish list.

For my card base, I have chosen the new red color, Lovely Lipstick, which I think is  perfect for this card.

Next, I stamped (in Lovely Lipstick), hearts from the Meant to Be set all over a panel of Lovely Lipstick card stock. I first stamped off each heart on scrap paper so the image would be very light, then stamped the second, lighter image on my card front. Repeating this technique, I stamped the sentiment from Beautiful Promenade in each heart, and filled in blank spots with it as well.

Next up, I ran the card front through my Big Shot in the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

For the focal image, I rubbed my embossing Buddy over a panel of Lovely Lipstick, stamped the sentiment from Meant to Be in Versamark ink, and heat embossed it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I then ran this through the Big Shot in the Lace Dynamic Impressions Embossing Folder. Using the coordinating Framelits in the bundle, I cut this out using the ruffled edge large heart and used only the center heart. I then cut a second heart in Whisper White and layered the Lovely Lipstick embossed heart over this, allowing the white ‘ruffle’ to show. Liquid Glue adhered these together and Stampin’ Dimensionals were used to attach this to the card front.

I used the Detailed Trio corner punch to round the corners of the card. Then, I thought it looked a little plain, so I added 3 Pearls Basic Jewels on the embossed heart.

For the inside, I used the long, scalloped edge framelit to cut the edges of my Whisper White panel to coordinate with the ruffled heart on the front. On this, I stamped the sentiment from Meant to Be in Lovely Lipstick. This panel was adhered into the card base with Liquid Glue. Card done.

The envelope received 3 of the smaller hearts, as on the front of the card, on the flap, and one on the front. I messed up 3 envelopes before I got smart and used my Stamparatus to stamp the envelope. Call me slow to learn!

Stampin’ Up! Beautiful You for the Happy Inkin’ Krew Thursday Blog Hop

Mornin’ Everyone! Today is Thursday, meaning it is Blog Hop Day. Today’s challenge is color , and as soon as I saw the challenge, I saw the card in my mind’s eye.

July 12 color challenge

While I really like 2 of the three colors, the third one is definitely not my favorite. However, I was able to use it sparingly on the card. It does set off the other two quite nicely, along with the addition of white. That said, here is my card.

I began by making black and white diagonal stripes for one of the mats. This is definitely not within my comfort zone as far as style and subject matter are concerned. It is too modern and too bright for my taste, but I knew I had to make it. It will be a birthday card for a young college age woman.

Having determined that my card base would be Lovely Lipstick and the first mat my UN-favorite color, Lemon Lime Twist, I knew that my striped mat had to be 4″ X 5-1/4″. Taking a panel of Whisper White and my mechanical pencil, along with a ruler, I began marking stripes approximately 1/4″ wide. I then proceeded to color them in with my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker. If you do this, be VERY careful as it wants to smear. Set aside to dry.

The art piece girl from Beautiful You is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on a Whisper White panel. The sentiment, also from Beautiful You, is stamped in Lovely Lipstick. My orginal thought was to leave the girl black and white, but decided to give her a touch of color with a Lemon Lime Twist hat. I deliberately left some white spots to add to the hand drawn look of this image. This panel was adhered to a Lovely Lipstick mat.

By now the stripes are dry and adhered with liquid glue to a Lemon Lime Twist mat and onto the front of the card base. Over this, using Stampin’ Dimensionals, I adhered the art piece to the front. As a final touch, I added a single Rhinestones Jewel to the lower right corner.

The inside continues the three colors with a Lemon Lime Twist mat, topped with a Basic Black mat. My sentiment panel is Whisper White edged with my Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Write Marker. The Lovely Lipstick image from Beautiful You was stamped off twice before adding to my panel. The Beautiful You sentiment is Memento Tuxedo Black.

For the envelope, I made more stripes on the flap, then stamped a girl on the front with Memento Tuxedo Black.

I think this turned out well and is very contemporary.

This card only uses one stamp set and minimal paper and inks. No die cuts. Enjoy.

Now, on with the rest of the hop. Click on the “NEXT” image to see what tempting creation Amy has for you.
