Stampin’ Up! Southern Serenade Birthday

Good Friday morning to you all! It is a pretty day today here in the heartland. What a Blessing God has given us. We have had a week of glorious weather, though it is warmer today than I prefer. My prayers go out for all those in the path of Florence…they are not having such a glorious day.

My card today is for a woman’s birthday, so I used the very feminine Southern Serenade stamp set. The sentiments are from At Home With You (front) and Beautiful You on the inside.

I began by stamping the floral bouquet in the Southern Serenade set in StazOn Black on Whisper White. Using my Blender Pen and Blueberry Bushel stamp pad (squeezing the closed pad to get some ink in the lid), I colored in the flowers, then gave them a Daffodil Delight center with my Stampin’ Write Marker. The Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Write Marker filled in the leaves. I then used the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to emboss the whole panel before cutting it with the largest of the scalloped Layering Ovals Framelits.

This was adhered with Liquid Glue to a Blueberry Bushel oval cut with the largest plain one from Layering Ovals Framelits.

My card base is Blueberry Bushel. A mat of Daffodil Delight was first embossed with the Swirls and Curls Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing folder. I wrapped a length of Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon around this and Liquid Glued it to the front. Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the Oval to the yellow mat.

I stamped the sentiment in Blueberry Bushel on a Whisper white scrap and used my Paper Snips to cut the ends. The Blueberry Bushel Stampin’ Write Marker edged this piece nicely. It is attached over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A small Polka Dot Tulle bow is attached with a Glue Dot.

On the inside I stamped the sentiments from Beautiful You in Blueberry Bushel and flowers from Southern Serenade in StazOn Black in each corner. These were colored the same as the front. This liner was Liquid Glued to a Daffodil Delight mat and into the card base.

For the envelope I used the Swirls and Curls embossing folder to do the flap and stamped the floral image from Southern Serenade in Blueberry Bushel on the front.

I hope you like this card. I think it very feminine. Please leave comments below.

Stampin’ Up! Beautiful You for the Happy Inkin’ Krew Thursday Blog Hop

Mornin’ Everyone! Today is Thursday, meaning it is Blog Hop Day. Today’s challenge is color , and as soon as I saw the challenge, I saw the card in my mind’s eye.

July 12 color challenge

While I really like 2 of the three colors, the third one is definitely not my favorite. However, I was able to use it sparingly on the card. It does set off the other two quite nicely, along with the addition of white. That said, here is my card.

wild wing creations-4

I began by making black and white diagonal stripes for one of the mats. This is definitely not within my comfort zone as far as style and subject matter are concerned. It is too modern and too bright for my taste, but I knew I had to make it. It will be a birthday card for a young college age woman.

Having determined that my card base would be Lovely Lipstick and the first mat my UN-favorite color, Lemon Lime Twist, I knew that my striped mat had to be 4″ X 5-1/4″. Taking a panel of Whisper White and my mechanical pencil, along with a ruler, I began marking stripes approximately 1/4″ wide. I then proceeded to color them in with my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker. If you do this, be VERY careful as it wants to smear. Set aside to dry.

The art piece girl from Beautiful You is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on a Whisper White panel. The sentiment, also from Beautiful You, is stamped in Lovely Lipstick. My orginal thought was to leave the girl black and white, but decided to give her a touch of color with a Lemon Lime Twist hat. I deliberately left some white spots to add to the hand drawn look of this image. This panel was adhered to a Lovely Lipstick mat.

By now the stripes are dry and adhered with liquid glue to a Lemon Lime Twist mat and onto the front of the card base. Over this, using Stampin’ Dimensionals, I adhered the art piece to the front. As a final touch, I added a single Rhinestones Jewel to the lower right corner.

The inside continues the three colors with a Lemon Lime Twist mat, topped with a Basic Black mat. My sentiment panel is Whisper White edged with my Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Write Marker. The Lovely Lipstick image from Beautiful You was stamped off twice before adding to my panel. The Beautiful You sentiment is Memento Tuxedo Black.

For the envelope, I made more stripes on the flap, then stamped a girl on the front with Memento Tuxedo Black.

I think this turned out well and is very contemporary.

This card only uses one stamp set and minimal paper and inks. No die cuts. Enjoy.

Stampin’ Up! Beautiful You

A good Monday morning to Everyone! I hope your weekend was a good one and you are looking forward to another week. Every day is a blessing. My weekend was wonderful, spent mostly with family and celebrating birthdays.

Today’s card is one I made for my youngest granddaughter who will turn 20 this week and doesn’t want to talk about it. She is a lovely young lady, college student, and I am proud of her.

I started with a Calypso Coral card base and a Cajun Craze mat. The background for my sentiment circle was done with Ranger Oxide Inks in Worn Lipstick, Peeled Paint, Wild Honey, and Candied Apple on a piece of Whisper White card stock. I spritzed it and smooshed it until I had the background I wanted, then let it dry thoroughly and cut it to size.wild wing creations-4

You could hasten the drying with your heat tool, but I had other projects going so I just set it aside to dry naturally. This was Liquid Glue to the Cajun Craze mat.

After rubbing the painted panel with my Embossing Buddy and using the retired Kinda Eclectic, I stamped the sunburst in Versamark ink.The little dot cluster from Timeless Textures was also stamped in Versamark. I love the Copper Embossing Powder, especially with the shades of orange and yellow. This I heat embossed using my Heat Tool.

wild wing creations-1

Using the Beautiful You stamp set, I stamped the girl in Smoky Slate ink on Whisper White, then colored her with my Stampin’ Blends. The light Pumpkin Pie is her dress, and the dark Pumpkin Pie is her hat. Light Pink Pirouette served as the skin color and Light Crumb Cake for her hair.

Over this I stamped the sentiment, also from Beautiful You, in Versamark and heat set the Copper Embossing powder with my Heat Tool.

I cut the circle using my Stitched Shapes largest circle and Liquid Glued it to a scalloped Cajun Craze circle cut with the Layering Circles die.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the layered circles to the card front, over the embossed sunburst, offsetting it so that some of the rays peeked out from behind the circle. I had planned to use copper trim, but it was too much, so left it off.

For the inside, I stamped the flourish from from Timeless Textures in Pumpkin Pie in both upper corners of the Whisper White panel. The swoosh under the sentiment is from Beautiful You, also in Pumpkin Pie.

The sentiment is an old one I have had a while and do not remember where I got it. It is stamped in Calypso Coral. This panel was Liquid Glued to a Cajun Craze mat and into the card base.

This completes the card. On to the envelope, which shall NOT remain naked!

To prevent ‘bleed through’ of the Stampin’ Blends, I inserted a piece of cardboard into the envelope before I colored in the stamped (Smoky Slate) image, using the same colors as on the card.

The flap received a Calypso Coral sunburst from Kinda Eclectic.
