Stampin’ Up! Beautiful You

A good Monday morning to Everyone! I hope your weekend was a good one and you are looking forward to another week. Every day is a blessing. My weekend was wonderful, spent mostly with family and celebrating birthdays.

Today’s card is one I made for my youngest granddaughter who will turn 20 this week and doesn’t want to talk about it. She is a lovely young lady, college student, and I am proud of her.

I started with a Calypso Coral card base and a Cajun Craze mat. The background for my sentiment circle was done with Ranger Oxide Inks in Worn Lipstick, Peeled Paint, Wild Honey, and Candied Apple on a piece of Whisper White card stock. I spritzed it and smooshed it until I had the background I wanted, then let it dry thoroughly and cut it to size.wild wing creations-4

You could hasten the drying with your heat tool, but I had other projects going so I just set it aside to dry naturally. This was Liquid Glue to the Cajun Craze mat.

After rubbing the painted panel with my Embossing Buddy and using the retired Kinda Eclectic, I stamped the sunburst in Versamark ink.The little dot cluster from Timeless Textures was also stamped in Versamark. I love the Copper Embossing Powder, especially with the shades of orange and yellow. This I heat embossed using my Heat Tool.

wild wing creations-1

Using the Beautiful You stamp set, I stamped the girl in Smoky Slate ink on Whisper White, then colored her with my Stampin’ Blends. The light Pumpkin Pie is her dress, and the dark Pumpkin Pie is her hat. Light Pink Pirouette served as the skin color and Light Crumb Cake for her hair.

Over this I stamped the sentiment, also from Beautiful You, in Versamark and heat set the Copper Embossing powder with my Heat Tool.

I cut the circle using my Stitched Shapes largest circle and Liquid Glued it to a scalloped Cajun Craze circle cut with the Layering Circles die.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the layered circles to the card front, over the embossed sunburst, offsetting it so that some of the rays peeked out from behind the circle. I had planned to use copper trim, but it was too much, so left it off.

For the inside, I stamped the flourish from from Timeless Textures in Pumpkin Pie in both upper corners of the Whisper White panel. The swoosh under the sentiment is from Beautiful You, also in Pumpkin Pie.

wild wing creations-5

The sentiment is an old one I have had a while and do not remember where I got it. It is stamped in Calypso Coral. This panel was Liquid Glued to a Cajun Craze mat and into the card base.

This completes the card. On to the envelope, which shall NOT remain naked!

To prevent ‘bleed through’ of the Stampin’ Blends, I inserted a piece of cardboard into the envelope before I colored in the stamped (Smoky Slate) image, using the same colors as on the card.

wild wing creations-2

The flap received a Calypso Coral sunburst from Kinda Eclectic.

I hope you like this card.

Stampin’ Up! Birthday Pocket

Good Morning All,

Yesterday was a GORGEOUS day in the heartland, or at least the part where I live. 52 degrees, light wind, sunshine and beautiful blue sky. Made a great day for birding with friends. Actually, we were scouting eagle nests, and did a little birding in between. So, no card-making yesterday, and I have a large number to get done today.

Today it is VERY windy and still way above normal temperature wise, so a good day to make cards. On with the show!

This birthday card is for a little cowboy who loves his Wrangler jeans and plaid shirts. He is sure to like this, especially with some spendable green tucked into the pocket.

wild wing creations-3

I started with a Night of Navy card base and fast fused some old plaid paper from days gone by that I found in my scrap stash.

Next, also with a scrap that vaguely resembles old jeans, I stamped the pocket from the Pocketful of Sunshine Bundle in Cajun Craze. Using the straight line piece of ‘stitching’, I stamped the W like is found on Wrangler pockets. It is by no means perfect, but I think you, and my little cowboy, will get it.

Using Cajun Craze card stock and some dies I have had for awhile (pre-Stampin’ Up! days), I cut a square large enough to fit under the pocket. This was lightly sponged around the edges with Cajun Craze ink to give it a more leathery look. The pocket was Liquid Glued to this piece, which was Liquid Glued to the plaid mat.

For the sentiment, from the FREE Sale-A-Bration exclusive Party Pandas stamp set, I stamped it in Night of Navy on another die cut piece of Cajun Craze that was Liquid Glued to a Night of Navy mat. This piece was adhered above the pocket with Liquid Glue.

For the inside, another piece of the plaid served as a mat for yet another panel of lightly sponged Cajun Craze, where I stamped the boots from the Country Livin’ stamp set in Early Espresso. The sentiments,  from Picture Perfect Birthday (Occasions catalog), were also stamped in Early Espresso. To give the boots an ‘old and worn’ look, I used my dark and light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends to color them.

wild wing creations-4

This panel was liquid glued to the plaid mat and into the card base and the card is finished.

The envelope, never to remain naked, got a pair of boots stamped on the front in Early Espresso and more of the plaid on the flap.

I had fun with this card, and as usual, wish I could see the face of the recipient when it is opened. This could happen if I hand delivered it, but children like to receive mail, so I always mail them. This is the 9th family birthday this month!

Stampin’ Up Heartland Birthday

wild wing creations-4Good Wednesday morning to you all out there in Cyberland! And welcome to my blog.

It is a chilly, sunny morning here in the heartland. We missed all the weather around us, blizzards, storms, whatever. We are still in drought conditions, so even a blizzard would have brought welcome moisture. But, never mind, it is a glorious, God-given morning, so let us enjoy it!

My card today is for a farmer who has horses, mules, geese, turkeys and I don’t know what all. Chickens. Rabbits maybe? Oh, yes…and 8 grandsons. No granddaughters. So, I think this card made with the Heartland stamp set is very appropriate.

I began with a Crumb Cake card base and used Basic Black for the mats, both inside and out. The art piece is on Sahara Sand, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.

I pulled out several Classic Stamp pads, a couple of Stampin’ Write Markers, a Blender Pen and an Aqua Painter and got to work.

Using the blender pen I colored in the barn scene using Cherry Cobbler for the barn, Smoky Slate for the roof and ventilators, windmill blades and silo roof, Old Olive and Garden Green for the trees and bushes, and Cajun Craze for the silo. In these parts, old silos like this were made from clay tile, hence the sort of terra cotta color.

Using the Aqua Painter and Marina Mist I gave the sky a bit of a wash, and did the same thing for the ground using Soft Suede. Using a Garden Green marker I colored the tufts of grass. The tree trunks and branches are colored with an Early Espresso Marker. The soil close to the barn is done with a Blender Pen and Soft Suede.

wild wing creations-4

The sentiment is from Beautiful Bouquet and stamped full strength in Tuxedo Black ink. My original plan was to add some jute or burlap, but in the end decided less is more and left it off.

With the barn finished, I proceeded to color the boy and his geese, also using the Blender Pen. The geese are Whisper White, the boy’s hair is Soft Suede. His overalls are Marina Mist. I used Blushing Bride for his skin tone. By the way, this image is also from the Heartland stamp set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Sahara Sand card stock. The bills and feet of the geese are Pumpkin Pie. The stick the boy is carrying is colored with my Early Espresso marker.

wild wing creations-1

I thought this bit of detail needed more color, so I used the pen end of a Cajun Craze marker to color the stitches on the boy’s overalls. Also, using the Aqua Painter and Old Olive I did a bit of a wash on the ground, then colored the grass blades with my Garden Green marker.Using my Paper Snips Scissors, I fussy cut this image and popped it on the barn scene with  both Stampin’ Dimensionals and Minis.

As you can see, the coloring is sometimes outside the lines and is not perfect. Hey! This is art…done by hand….not supposed to be… ‘perfect’.

The art panel is Liquid Glued to the black mat and onto the card base.

This card front is done. On to the inside.

wild wing creations-5

Also using Sahara Sand card stock and Memento Tuxedo Black, I stamped the image of the boy and geese after stamping off once. To enhance the aged look  of this card, I sponged very lightly around the edges with Soft Suede.

The sentiment is from Better Together and is stamped full strength. This panel is matted with Basic Black and liquid glued into the card base.

Lest we have a naked envelope, the boy and his geese are stamped on the front of a Crumb Cake Medium Envelope  (retired), left uncolored.

wild wing creations-2

The flap is dry embossed using the Pinewood Planks 3-D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Hint: When using 3-D embossing folders, it helps to dampen the paper first. I liked the de-bossed look, so there you go. I should have sponged with my Soft Suede to enhance the aged look, but forgot to do it.

wild wing creations-3

And, that’s it, folks! I hope you enjoy this card. I am pretty sure the recipient will.

Stampin’ Up Happy Birthday

This card is for a two year old little boy. I hope he likes it.

I started with a card base of Real Red and the rest is either die cut or fussy cut. The only stamping is the sentiment on the banner on the front and the envelope flap. I think these little creatures are so cute….what two year old wouldn’t like these??

The grass and critters on the front are from the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper, as is the banner. The Fox and banner are cut with dies from the Birthday Friends Framelits. The rabbit and turtle are fussy cut using my Paper Snips Scissors. The striped mat is from the same Designer Series Paper as the animals, as are the balloons on the inside of the card. Actually, all elements of this card, other than the Real Red and Whisper White card stock, are from ONE SHEET of DSP!

wild wing creations-3

The banner is stamped in Real Red with a sentiment from Birthday Delivery Stamp set. The three elements-stamps, dies and DSP, are all in a bundle which lets you save 10% over purchasing them separately (page 69 Annual Catalog). The grass is torn from the DSP and adhered to Whisper White card stock with Liquid Glue and trimmed to fit. The fox is also adhered using Liquid Glue.

The banner staff is adhered with Liquid Glue and the ‘banner’ with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Turtle and Rabbit are also attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals, both regular and mini. Liquid Glue adheres the art panel to the striped mat, and the striped mat to the card base.

The inside sentiment is die cut from Real Red card stock using the Happy Birthday Thinlits and adhered to the balloons mat with Liquid Glue. To add just a bit of glitz, I went over all of the die cut with Wink of Stella. The mat is Liquid Glued to the card base.

wild wing creations-4

A fussy cut squirrel adorns the front of the envelope and stamps from the Birthday Delivery stamp set finish the flap in Real Red. The balloon strings are in Early Espresso.

I really like these little creatures for a child birthday.

Stampin’ Up Sure Do Love You

Good Morning Everyone! Today is our Inkin’ Krew monthly Blog Hop. Welcome aboard. Please continue the hop to see what our other creative team members have done.

It has certainly been cold here in the heart of the country. We do have some snow, but nothing like the northeast and east coast has had. Actually, we are so dry, I wouldn’t mind a foot of wet snow. I decided many years ago that it is a good thing we humans are NOT in control of the weather, or it would be a REAL mess.

Today’s card is from the Sure Do Love You Bundle.

I began by cutting a stencil from a Post-It Note with the 3 small hearts in the Lots to Love Box Framelits, part of the Sure Do Love You Bundle. You save 10% when you order the bundle as opposed to ordering dies and stamps separately. I digress.

wild wing creations-4

Using the stencils and 3 shades of pink (Berry Burst, Melon Mambo and Powder Pink) I sponged little hearts at random over a Whisper White Thick card stock panel. Over this I adhered with Liquid Glue a strip of Silver Foil Sheets. Taking a piece of Berry Burst Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, I taped it to the back and over the Silver Foil strip.

Use the Embossing Buddy to go over the card stock before stamping in Versamark. The large outline heart was stamped in Versamark on Berry Burst. The same procedure was followed for the ‘You Are My Valentine’ heart. Both were then heat embossed with Silver Emboss Powder and die cut with their coordinating dies.

The outline heart was then adhered at an angle to the heart-stamped Whisper White panel with Liquid Glue. The ‘valentine’ heart was placed inside this outline and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

wild wing creations-1

A Berry Burst Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon bow was attached at the base of the heart with a Glue Dot and three rhinestones finish the front.

On the inside, a single outline heart was stamped in Berry Burst on Whisper White card stock. Over this, the sentiment banner, also from Sure Do Love You, was stamped in Powder Pink. This panel was adhered with Liquid Glue to a mat of Berry Burst and into the card base.

wild wing creations-5

Easy-Peasy!

The envelope flap received more random stenciled hearts. The small leaf stamp from Sure Do Love You was stamped in the corner of the envelope front in Powder Pink as well as a single small heart in Berry Burst.

Stampin’ Up! Heartfelt Blooms Sympathy

Today is Thursday, the 4th day of 2018. How did it get to be the 4th? Before we know it, it will be summer and this winter season of frigid record-setting temperatures will be one for the history books. Life is passing quickly, so make the most of every day!

Today’s card is another sympathy, which is why I guess I am brought to the realization once again of how brief (in the big picture) is our time here on earth.

The Sale-A-Bration catalog has some wonderful items you can choose, for FREE, with a purchase of $50. One of those is the stamp set I chose to use today, Heartfelt Blooms.

This stamp is one of Stampin’ Up!s new Distinctive stamps, that is to say, photorealistic. I love this one.

I began by stamping the image in Smoky Slate on Smoky Slate card stock. This panel was mounted on a mat of Berry Burst. A piece of Berry Burst Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon was wrapped around and taped on the back. This panel was then adhered to the card base with Liquid Glue.

wild wing creations-3

For the sentiment, I again stamped the design in Smoky Slate, this time on Whisper White card stock, and cut it with a Layering Ovals Framelits die. Using Berry Burst and the sentiment from Heartfelt blooms, I stamped the sentiment over the flower image. To give the oval more definition, I simply rubbed the Smoky Slate Classic Stampin’ Pad around the edge, making a nice, even, narrow band of gray. This was adhered to a Berry Burst scalloped Layering Ovals die-cut. Using Stampin’ Dimensionals I adhered this layered oval to the card front.

For the inside, I again stamped the floral image in Smoky Slate on Smoky Slate card stock, this time placing it more in the corner. Then, leaving room for my sentiment, I stamped the corners of my panel with the floral image.

wild wing creations-4

The sentiment is from Heartfelt Sympathy and is stamped in Berry Burst. This panel was adhered to a Berry Burst mat and into the card base.

For the Whisper White Medium Envelope, I stamped the floral image in Smoky Slate twice on the flap and just in the corner on the front.

I need to state here that, while it is not so obvious on the gray, the imperfections of this stamp took on Huge Proportions when it was stamped on white. I kept trying to get a good image, and finally realized that the stamp had holes in it. This prevented a clear image no matter what I did. The more I stamped, the worse it got!

Stampin’ Up! stands behind their products, and, while it doesn’t often happen (this is the first problem I have had), there are times when an imperfect product is shipped. Before I got off the phone with their support team, a new stamp was on its way to replace the faulty one.

I debated about showing the envelope on this blog, but I think you all need to know that this company does indeed stand behind their products and will replace a bad one. I think this is the third envelope I did, and I am not proud of it. The recipient of this card may get a naked envelope!

Stampin’ Up! Hold on to Hope Sympathy

The new Hold on to Hope Bundle (Occasions Catalog page 27, available tomorrow) was the basis for this card inspired by Mary over at Stamps ‘n’ Lingers. You can see her card here.

This is a beautiful stamp set and has excellent dies as well. It will become a staple for me. And, it is very versatile, could be used for Baptisms, confirmations, encouragement, Easter….the list goes on.

wild wing creations-4

I began with a panel of Whisper White card stock and So Saffron, Melon Mambo, Pool Party, and Night of Navy inks, sponging the colors randomly for my background.

The card base is Pool Party and the mat is Night of Navy.

Using the dies from the Hold on to Hope Bundle I die cut a Night of Navy cross and an openwork cross in Whisper White, adhering them together with Liquid Glue. Behind the cross is a die cut from Flourish Thinlits, also in Whisper White, and adhered to the sponged panel with Liquid Glue. The layered cross is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment is from Thoughts and Prayers stamp set, stamped in Night of Navy on Whisper White. It is punched with the Everyday Label Punch, with the outer long edges trimmed off with my Paper Snips Scissors. It was just too wide for this card. Using the Melon Mambo and Night of Navy sponges, I sponged the edges of the sentiment label. I used whatever ink remained in the sponge and did not re-ink.

wild wing creations-1

This, too, was attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Hold on to Hope butterfly is stamped in Pacific Point (I thought the Pool Party would be too pale) and cut with the die from the bundle. Liquid Glue adheres the art panel to the mat and into the card base.

On the inside, a stamped-off-once flower spray, also from Hold on to Hope, in Pacific Point serves as a backdrop for the Heartfelt Sympathy sentiment in Night of Navy. I inked the flower spray, stamped it off, then wiped off the three flowers and inked them with my light Rich Razzleberry Blends, then stamped my Whisper White panel.

wild wing creations-5

I like this little added touch of color. You could use a Melon Mambo Stampin’ Write Marker, and I probably would have, if I had had my markers available at the time.

Using the little corner stamp in Hold on to Hope, I stamped the corners of the inside of the card base in Night of Navy, wishing I had the Stamp-A-Ratus to get the placement perfect. But, I don’t, so they are not exactly where I wanted them.

For the Whisper White Medium Envelope, I stamped the little butterfly several times in Night of Navy on the front

wild wing creations-2

and a pair of the same flower spray as on the inside, only in Night of Navy, on the flap.

wild wing creations-3

I know you will get a lot of good from this Bundle, a must have, in my opinion.
