Stampin’ Up! Halloween Eclipse

Good Monday, Everyone, or is that an oxymoron? Perhaps for those who have to go to a job, which they would rather not do, it is an oxymoron. For me, it is the beginning of a new week, in which I can try to get caught up somewhat around her. So, Monday is good for me.

Today’s card is one of those I don’t often do as I really don’t much care for Halloween. The DSP does most of the work, so this was pretty quick and easy.

Since I don’t do much Halloween, my supplies for this kind of card are VERY limited. Having purchased shares from my upline, I have paper, but no coordinating stamps. One stamp set. That’s it. The only stamping on this card is the sentiment inside, which is in the set I own, Spooky Sweets.

I started with the Toil and Trouble Designer Series Paper with the cats, and thought it would work nicely as an eclipse card.

I cut that paper to size, then, using the Large Letters Framelits I cut the word BOO into the paper. This works much better if you have the Magnetic Platform. I then cut 3 of each letter from Pumpkin Pie card stock.  The inside pieces of the B and the center of the O are glued directly to the Pumpkin Pie mat.

The easy way to do this is to adhere the cut out panel to the mat with Liquid Glue. Place the B in its spot, apply Liquid Glue to the back of the small inner pieces and put them in place, making sure they are adhered. Remove the B. Repeat this procedure with the Os.

You could attach the letters with Stampin’ Dimensionals, but the stacking gives them much more stability, and, I think it looks neater.

I then stacked the DSP letters on top of 3 layers of card stock, adhering them with Liquid Glue. Each stacked letter is then Liquid Glued in its place. When using a patterned paper such as this that is directional, be certain you have the correct letter in the correct position.

Using the Cat Punch, I cut one cat from Basic Black card stock, and one from the DSP. The Basic Black cat is attached to the front with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. The front is then adhered to the card base with Liquid Glue, or, if you prefer, Tear and Tape.

On the inside, I used Liquid Glue to adhere a scrap cut from the front along the left side of the Pumpkin Pie liner. I then positioned the DSP cat punched earlier to the panel so I would know where to put my sentiment. The sentiment is in Memento Tuxedo Black. Use Liquid Glue to adhere the cat. The upper right corner looked pretty naked, so I used my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to draw some corner interest. I used a ruler and it is still crooked! Go figure. Did they sell me a crooked ruler?? 🙂

I probably should have put a Basic Black cat under this one to give it a shadow, thus setting it off from the background. Hindsight is 20/20.

This was adhered to a Basic Black Mat and into the Smoky Slate card base.

For the envelope front, I used one of the stamps in the Spooky Sweets set, stamping it in Basic Black.

The flap got more of the black cat DSP.
