Stampin’ Up! Wonderful Romance for a Wedding

What better use of a stamp set with Romance in its name than for a wedding? Huh? It is a perfect match. And the coordinating dies….how can one go wrong? Then, there is also the perfectly romantic, wonderful Lace Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder. These will be available to you on January 3. Only demonstrators can order in December.

I had a request from someone who wanted me to make a wedding card. Of course, this bundle came to mind.

Yesterday on their respective blogs, my friends/teammates Amy and Mary made cards using this bundle. Stampin’ Up! makes it easy for you to purchase the stamps and dies together and save 10%. I decided after my own bundle and the TIEF came yesterday that I would CASE their cards, using a bit from Amy’s and a bit from Mary’s. This is the result.

I like tone on tone cards, especially for wedding cards, so this one is white on white on pale green on white. I used Thick Whisper White card stock for the card base, Soft Sea Foam for the mats and the rest is all Thick Whisper White card stock. It seemed that there needed to be a LITTLE bit of color, but nothing too obvious.

Normally I would just use the thick stock for the card base, but I really wanted the detail of the embossing folder to show, as well as the detail in the die cuts. I thought perhaps the thicker card stock would make them more visible and I think it does.

1

I began by die  cutting 6 of the large leaf spray, then 6 each of the four different size leaves. I did this because I didn’t want to stamp color on the leaf spray and the only other way to get leaf detail was to die cut the leaves and use Liquid Glue to attach them to the base spray. I also cut 3 smaller leaf sprays that have detail, and 6 of the little berry sprays. There are 4 little flower dies in this set, which speeds things up, and I cut 5 little flowers (4 at once and 1 extra), which are centered with Basic Jewels Pearls.

I used the largest Stitched Shapes circle to cut the sentiment circle on which I stamped the sentiment from Special Celebrations in Soft Sea Foam. On this circle I adhered all the die cuts with Liquid Glue to form the wreath. That is, all except the little flowers which are attached with rolled up Glue Dots.

This is a 5″ x 7″ card. The mat is cut from Soft Sea Foam card stock. The background is Thick Whisper White, dry embossed using the Lace Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder. This is then adhered to the mat using Liquid Glue. 5

To this, I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the wreath. A few Basic Jewels Pearls and a couple of bows finish the front. I made the larger bow from 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon and the smaller one from some 1/8″ satin ribbon from my stash. Both are adhered to the wreath using  Glue Dots.

On the inside another Soft Sea Foam mat shows nicely behind the Whisper White liner, which was punched using an old Stampin’ Up! eyelet edge punch. The sentiment here is also from Special Celebrations and stamped in Soft Sea Foam.

The envelope flap was dry embossed with the Lace TIEF, and a large flower spray was stamped on the front in Soft Sea Foam.

That’s it folks. I sort of copied my friends, yet made this card my own. I hope the recipients like it.

Happy Inkin’ Thursday wedding card

Good morning Everyone! What a beautiful week we have had. Though we missed all the rains, we also missed the tornadoes, which is okay by me. The tornadoes we don’t need, the rain we do. Very dry here.

Today’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop centers around a sketch challenge, which I have chosen to do as a wedding card. Here is the sketch:

And here is my contriubution:

I like a tone on tone card, especially for a wedding, so decided on a totally white card, using texture to dress it up. Well, maybe a little silver also. I also like a larger card for a wedding. This one is 5″ x 7″. The only stamping on this card is the sentiment.

My card base is Whisper White. The first layer is dry embossed with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The banner was also dry embossed using the new Tufted TIEF. For the banner, I used a strip cut from the card stock when I cut the card base. The ends were cut with my Paper Snips Scissors.  This was Liquid Glued to the Softly Falling mat. I thought I embossed it straight, and cut it straight, but the lines are off. Not sure why, but I am not losing sleep over it.

For the sentiment, I used the Special Celebrations stamp set, stamping it with Versamark ink and heat embossing it Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. To get the placement of the sentiment perfect on the already-die-cut piece, I used my Stamparatus. Works great every time. I tend to get things on a slant if I just eyeball it, so the Stamparatus is a great tool for me.

This sentiment piece was cut with one of the dies from the Stitched Seasons Framelits. I love this shape and the little ‘stitches’. All of the die cutting for this card was done with dies from this set. The bow was cut from Silver Foil Sheets and Liquid Glued to the sentiment piece.

(If you like the dies used on this card, you are IN LUCK, because yesterday was the first day customers could order this limited edition Color Your Season stamp set/dies/bundle. You can order them separately of course, but if you order both the stamps and the coordinating dies in the bundle, you will save 10%. In addition, there are 10 new colors of watercolor pencils, which are wonderful. They are NOT part of the bundle. This offer is good ONLY during the month of August. Just sayin’. More info below.)

Stampin’ Dimensionals were used to adhere this sentiment/bow over the banner and onto the mat. The mat was then Liquid Glued to the card base.

On the inside, I rounded the corners using my Envelope Punch Board, then used a small flourish die from Stitched Seasons to cut 3 of the corners. The fourth corner is dry embossed using the Lovely Floral TIEF.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment, again from Special Celebrations, in Versamark and, using my Heat Tool, heat embossed it in Silver. Liquid Glue adheres this panel into the card base.

For the envelope, since there is no stamped image and no DSP to use, I dry embossed the flap with the Softly Falling TIEF.  The little silver design on the front was stamped with one of the smaller stamps in Accented Blooms. It is perfect for a corner, and the wee small heart makes it a great image for a wedding card. Even if I do have it upside down!

This was a quick and easy card to do, but looks much more complex. At least I think it does. Sometimes I have to s-t-r-e-t-c-h myself to create a lovely card using no Designer Series Paper and very little ink/stamping.

I really like the layers of embossed pieces and may do more of that in the future. Thanks for stopping by, and don’t forget to leave a comment.

Wedding card

I trust you have all had a good Wednesday. It has been a busy one, but I want to share with you the wedding card I made.

There are a lot of companies out there making stamps and dies for all us crafters to use, and while I am a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I still like to use items from other companies when Stampin’ Up! doesn’t have what I need.

Before I became a SU demonstrator I had purchased this lovely embossing folder by Docrafts, which also cuts. I believe it is called an X-Cut Embossing Folder and does a lovely job of embossing and cutting at the same time. This is what I used for the card front.

front

As you can see, it cut little hearts, flowers and butterflies as well as a window that opens! While it is doing that it is also embossing a trellis with flowers. I thought it perfect for this wedding card mad from Very Vanilla card stock. Anytime you die cut something and have little pieces, save them! You never know when you might need that little swirly thing, or tiny heart or whatever.

The embossing powder is Golden Sand from Stampendous, which I used because I did not want a solid metal looking butterfly. I did use that also for the sentiment, which is from the Special Celebrations stamp set. I think the copper stampin’ emboss powder would probably have been better for the sentiment.

The butterfly is from the Papillion Potpourri set, stamped in versamark, heat embossed and fussy cut. This is adhered with mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to a small panel cut to fit behind the window (with the corners cut off so as not to cover up the flowers). The sentiment is (HORRORS) cut apart, yes, I did that. Took my little Paper Snips scissors and just whacked it into 3 pieces. Otherwise, it wouldn’t fit in my window. I can always use it as it was intended if I want to.  These are MY stamps and I can cut them up if I want to! It is not an earth shattering thing to do. Just DO it!

I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to get the sentiment lined up straight.

front open window

Using liquid glue I attached this panel behind the window. This fancy panel is adhered with Tear & Tape to a copper mat (with the center cut out. Uh-huh, I did that too. Saves expensive paper) and onto the card front.

For the inside I stamped off once in Sahara Sand the sort of background design from the Graceful Garden set, placing it in opposite corners and leaving room for the sentiment, again using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line them up straight.

The sentiment is in full strength Sahara Sand and is also from the Special Celebrations stamp set.inside

I stamped another butterfly in versamark on a scrap of vellum and heat embossed it with the same embossing powder as on the front. This was also fussy cut, then adhered to the sentiment panel with a glue dot. This panel was Tear & Taped to the copper (center cut out), which was then liquid glued onto a Very Vanilla mat and into the card base.

The Medium Very Vanilla envelope got another embossed butterfly on the front and a cattywampus design on the flap. My original plan was a failure as I tried to line up the image and have a solid design on the flap. I could not get it to work, so a single cattywampus image will have to do. Probably if I didn’t tell you differently, you would have just thought I intended it to look that way. This was stamped in full strength Sahara Sand.

I think all these elements work well together for a special card for a special couple.

Thank you for joining me. Card cuts and Stampin’ Up! products used are below. If you do not have a demonstrator, I would be happy to help you. Or, to order from me you can just click on the Order Online button at right.
