Stampin’ Up Baby card

Here is my Friday the 13th post. I think this is a very feminine card for an expected baby girl.

I used an old, retired Stampin’ Up border punch, Moon Baby stamp set, which will be retiring and Magic and Myths glimmer paper, also retiring. Oh, and Pink Pirouette card stock, another retiree. I love them all and will probably continue to use them until gone.

wild wing creations-4

The card base is Pink Pirouette with the front covered in the Magic and Myths white glimmer paper. Over this I used a panel of Whisper White, dry embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. I believe it is Swiss Dots.

I went all around the edge with the old Stampin’ Up border punch, of which I do not know the name, but eyelet comes to mind. I like the lacy look. This was Tear and Taped to the Glimmer paper. The moon and hanging star are fussy cut from M & M Glimmer Paper. The other stars were die cut with the Card Builder Thinlits. (Now also retired) I am doing very well with the retirees, don’t you think???

The Congratulations is from a Simply Refined die,  and cut from the same glimmer paper as the moon and adhered with Tear and Tape adhesive.

Now, the baby. I cut the baby on the Glimmer moon completely off, just curving the moon as though there was no baby. This left space to adhere the baby with Tear and Tape. I stamped her in Blushing Bride on Whisper White card stock and colored her with Ivory, Light Pink Pirouette and the color lifter Stampin’ Blends. I didn’t want too dark a face, so removed a little of the color with the color lifter. I went over the hair, nose and eyelids with my Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Write Marker. Tear and Tape adhered the fussy cut baby to the moon, and the moon to the embossed panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. wild wing creations-1

She is holding on to the star strung with a piece of Metallic Silver Thread and left loose to dangle from her hand. Three more stars near the moon and two by the sentiment complete the front of this card. Three stars are adhered with Liquid Glue, and the other two with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the inside, another panel of dry embossed Whisper White with corners cut with an old punch, acts as a mat for the metallic paper and art piece. The embossed panel is Liquid Glued to the card base.wild wing creations-5

I stamped the sentiment and the stars from Moon Baby in Pink Pirouette on Whisper white, then adhered it to the Glimmer Paper with Tear and Tape. The Glimmer paper is then Liquid Glued to the embossed panel. This completes the card.

For the envelope, I dry embossed the flap with the little dots,

wild wing creations-3

then stamped stars from Moon Baby across the bottom of the front.

This was a fun card to make.

Stampin’ Up! Sweet Little Something

Good morning All,

A couple of days ago I had so much fun making these cards, I could have just kept doing it all day!!! I have been invited to a baby (girl) shower and decided that a gift of thank you cards and stamps would be appreciated by the new mommy. See what I did.

wild wing creations-1

Actually, there are 8 cards. I guess the Wisteria Wonder with stripes got buried somehow and I didn’t catch it soon enough to take another photo.

I used the NEW Stamparatus, with great success, to stamp the bunny and the sentiment on all the cards. Since the bunny, from Sweet Little Something  (which will retire at the end of May) is a three step stamp, the Stamparatus gives you perfect placement for every layer on every card. A-maz-ing! I have never been able to be this accurate, and to do it so quickly. So. much. fun!

There are 2 cards each of Pink Pirouette, Soft Sky, So Saffron and Wisteria Wonder. I had some leftover Subtles Designer Series Paper Pack that I thought appropriate for a baby thank you, so those went on each card. The papers are double sided, so one side did one card and envelope and the other side did the other card. I used two patterns and their opposing sides. This was a totally enjoyable process. I urge you to get a Stamparatus if you haven’t ordered one yet. It is an amazing tool.

And, while I am talking products, all of those colors except So Saffron are going to retire at the end of May. If you like them and want to stock up, I wouldn’t wait as they are only available as long as supplies last. There may be a discount on them later in May, if there are any left, but I wouldn’t chance it if you really want ink, refills or card stock.

Details on making the cards: card base with matching DSP mat. I cut all the card bases first, then all the DSP. Likewise the front panel and the inside liner. Envelope flaps I did last. The mat is liquid glued to each card base. The whole process was done assembly line style.

wild wing creations-5

The bunny is stamped in three colors on Very Vanilla card stock with the darkest first: Soft Suede, then Crumb Cake and lastly Sahara Sand. The bow on her head is from Bear Hugs stamp set and coordinates with the card base. The sentiment is from Heartfelt Blooms and also is stamped in coordinating color. All this was done on the Stamparatus and was so quick and easy.  I did all the bunnies first, then just changed ink color for the sentiment and bows as needed. There are plenty of instructions out there for using this tool, so I won’t go into that here.

This panel was Liquid Glued to the card base and the front was done. Quick, like a bunny!

On the inside, I used the largest little flower in the Sweet Little Something stamp set to stamp the flowers along the bottom of one card of each color,

wild wing creations-6

and in the four corners of the other card in each color. They are all the same, yet they are all different. The bunny and the sentiment are the common element, and the papers all coordinate, giving the set a cohesive look. I did not add a sentiment to the inside to leave room for the mom to write a personal note.

wild wing creations-2

I think this makes a nice set of different, yet coordinating, cards for a special gift.

The envelopes have the same little flowers on the front as on the inside of the card, in the proper color, and a strip of the DSP on the flap. wild wing creations-4

This is the way they look in the box, which is tied with a length of 1/2″ Powder Pink Finely Woven Ribbon. The box was in my storeroom.

wild wing creations-3

So! What do you think? I think I will make more card sets to give as gifts, now that I have the BEST TOOL EVER for making stamping easier, quicker and a whole lot more fun!

The HOST CODE is good for the month of APRIL: 7XJPHBSC. To get details on my customer rewards, go here. Card cuts and supplies needed are listed below. Please leave a comment as well.

The new catalogs will be out soon, and I have seen a sneak peek. I can’t reveal too much, except to say that there will be several items retiring and the colors are getting re-vamped. I think you will like the changes.

Stampin’ Up! Bear Hugs

This card is so quick and so simple, it probably wins the ‘made the fastest’ contest. I don’t know that there is a contest, but this card went together very quickly. Sadly, the Bear Hugs stamp/dies are retired, but they are perfect for this occasion.

A certain little girl I know started preschool today and this card is for her. She loves animals, and her teddy bear, and wears tutus as much as her mom will let her. (Don’t tell her the bear is wearing an apron. She will think it is a tutu.)

front

This card only used 3 colors card stock, 2 inks and 1 stamp/die bundle. It was a breeze!

Pink Pirouette is the card base, the bear is Crumb Cake and the panels are Very Vanilla. Tutu and bow are also Pink Pirouette.

I began by cutting the card base and the Very Vanilla panels, then, using the Bear Hugs stamp set, stamped the bear in Sahara Sand on Crumb Cake. I stamped the tutu and bow in Melon Mambo on Pink Pirouette and cut the bear and accessories with the Bear Hugs framelits. The bear is liquid glued to the Very Vanilla Panel, and Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the tutu. Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the bow to the bear. A piece of pink ribbon from my stash is wrapped to the back of the panel and Scotch taped. A small bow finishes that. The sentiment is stamped in Melon Mambo. This panel is liquid glued to another Very Vanilla panel that I sponged around the edges with Melon Mambo,  and the front is done. Easy Peasy!

Inside, the sentiment and hearts, all from the Bear Hugs set, were stamped on Very Vanilla in Melon Mambo and the panel is liquid glued into the card base.inside

The front of the envelope is stamped with the smaller bear, also in Sahara Sand.

envelope front

The envelope flap got more of the hearts. I told you it was fast!

Card Cuts: Pink Pirouette: card base 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″, bow and tutu 1-1/2″ x 3″; Very Vanilla: front mat and inside sentiment 4″ x 5-1/4″, front art panel 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″; Crumb Cake: bear 3″ x 4″

Thought for today: Since it is very ‘fall-like’ here today (63 degrees), I wanted to leave you with this, even though this card is definitely NOT fall-like:

“Autumn, the year’s last, lovliest smile.” William Cullen Bryant.

Appreciate the beauty that is Autumn.

Stampin’ Up! Colorful Seasons

Welcome and a Tremendous Thursday to you all. I am not from the south so I can’t say y’all. Maybe I should just say ‘to you’ and leave it there? 🙂

Today I am using the Colorful Seasons stamp set, and thinking, “I could make dozens of cards with just this one stamp set. There are wonderful elements in it, including leaves, flowers, snowflakes, branches, sentiments and a comfy chair.card front

Then there are the lovely flowers, and that delicate branch from the Seasonal Layers thinlits. And, my favorite, the marvelous Adirondack chair, of which I actually have 2 real ones, where I love to sit outside with my coffee in the mornings and watch the birds.

If you don’t have this bundle it is one you will want on your wish list. If you purchase the bundle you will save 10% of the cost of buying them individually. But, I digress! Happens a lot with me. On with the card.

Today I have chosen to use this bundle just because I love it and for no other reason. This is the third iteration of this card as I couldn’t seem to get what I wanted in the beginning.

The card base is crumb cake, with a skewed mat of Early Espresso. These are not the colors with which I began the project, but I do like these with the Powder Pink. After cutting the base and the mat I decided that a color wash on watercolor paper would make a nice background for my chair and the branches filled with blossoms.card front

Using Powder Pink Stampin’ pad and a Stampin’ Sponge (cut into 4ths) I began the wash on a piece of WET watercolor paper. The first one looked too dark, so I started over and like this much better. A light touch is a good thing…you can always add more ink if it is too light, but you can’t take it away easily if it is too dark.

I let this dry while I proceeded with the other elements. I now have a whole lawn full of Adirondack chairs, as I experimented with different colors of card stock and ink. Finally settling on Whisper White cardstock and Sahara Sand ink to make the wood grain, I used the background stamp, Hardwood, to make the wood for the chair. Just FYI, I have a Powder Pink chair, Sahara Sand, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake, all with the wood grain, as well as a couple cut from the Wood Textures DSP. I have saved all of these for future projects.

By now, the watercolor paper is DRY!, so, on with the card front. Place the chair where it leaves room for the flower branches and adhere with liquid glue. Using the smallest branch in the Colorful Seasons set, stamp 2 branches in Early Espresso. The stamp that is a grouping of flowers and petals was used with Powder Pink ink for the flowers, carefully lining up the flowers with the branch.detail

Next I used the large branch die from Seasonal Layers, cutting three of them from Early Espresso. This is such a delicate branch that I really didn’t want to cut teeny tiny pieces of dimensionals to give it some lift. The best option seemed to be to cut 3 and glue them one on top of the other to achieve dimension. Before adhering this to the watercolor piece, I decided it was a good time to attach the watercolor to the card front.

My reasoning was that I wanted the large branch to hang over the whole front and it was easier for everything to be attached to help with placement. Once the branch is on, it is time for more texture, so I added die cut flowers, stamped in Powder Pink on Whisper White cardstock.

Placing them in my hand, I used the blunt end of a stylus tool to smoosh (is that a word?) them a bit to look more like flowers might actually look. These were attached to the branch with Glue Dots.

The sentiment is also from the Colorful Seasons set and is stamped in Early Espresso. Something seemed to be lacking, so I thought perhaps a bird, a bee or a butterfly would be the finishing touch. I found this small bird as part of an old stamp and stamped it in Marina Mist. Using a blender pen and ink in the stamp lid, I filled in the bird outline. He is carrying a pink flower in his yellow bill, both filled in with Stampin’ Write markers in Powder Pink and Daffodil Yellow.

The card front is done.

Hold Everything! After I was finished and photos were done as well, I decided to add a small Pearl Basic Jewels to the center of each of the 3 larger flowers, giving the card just a bit of bling. Use your imagination here as I did not re-take the photos.

The inside sentiment, in Early Espresso,is from the Oh So Eclectic set and stamped on the Powder Pink sheet, along with the branches. Using the same flower stamp as on the front, I stamped a few flowers in full strength Powder Pink, adding a few at the bottom.inside

This was glued onto an Early Espresso mat and into the card base.

The envelope received the stamping treatment as well, both on the front, envelope frontAnd on the flap.envelope flapI hope you like this Colorful Seasons set and its matching dies as much as I do. Thank you for stopping by. Please join me again tomorrow for another Stampin’ Up! card.
