Stampin’ Up! Festive Farmhouse Anniversary

Good Sunday Morning Everyone! This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118: 24

Rejoice even if it is cold! Or hot! Or raining! Whatever. It is a good thing WE don’t control the weather or things would be in a real mess.

For some reason there are a lot of anniversaries in my family in the autumn of the year. One of my nieces is celebrating theirs soon so I made this card for them using the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper as my inspiration.

If I recall, her bridesmaids wore plaid silk skirts and burgundy silk jackets. The plaid was similar to the Festive Farmhouse plaid. I think. Now, I could be WAY wrong on what I remember, but whatever.  That is why I chose this paper and colors today.

4

My card base is Very Vanilla and the mat on the front is Merry Merlot. A strip of the Festive Farmhouse DSP is cut with my Triple Banner Punch. It has a strip of the new Merry Merlot and Copper 5/8″ reversible ribbon with the Merry Merlot side up on top. I wrapped one end over the DSP and taped it to the back, then cut the other end with my fabric scissors. It was a clean cut, but this ribbon does fray. Badly. The less handling of it the better. To get it to lie flat I used some Tear and Tape to secure it to the DSP. The DSP was Liquid Glued to the mat.

1

A piece of Mossy Meadow run through the Big Shot with the Subtle Dynamic Embossing Folder was then cut with the second largest Layering Ovals scalloped oval. The sentiment from Beautiful Bouquet was stamped in Merry Merlot on Very Vanilla. This was cut with the second largest Stitched Shapes oval. I stamped a bow from Beautiful Bouquet also, but didn’t really like it, so I made a bow from the Merry Merlot/Copper ribbon. It is tough to make a nice bow from 5/8″ ribbon, but it turned out fairly well. A Glue Dot adhered it to the sentiment oval and Liquid Glue adhered that oval to the scalloped oval. This was then adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

5

The inside Merry Merlot mat was also dry embossed in the Subtle TIEF before adhering it into the card base with Liquid Glue. The sentiment (Better Together) is stamped in Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla card stock and cut with the same die as the front. The mat is Festive Farmhouse plaid again, cut with the largest Layering Ovals scalloped oval. All are adhered with Liquid Glue.

For the envelope, I used the bow from Beautiful Bouquet  to stamp a row of Merry Merlot bows across the bottom of the envelope front. Full disclosure: I stamped the first envelope front UPSIDE DOWN, meaning I stamped them across the top. Oh, my! Wasted envelope!

2 For the flap, I used the Festive Farmhouse plaid Designer Series Paper again. Gotta love the plaid!

3  I think this card is pleasing and hope it brings fond memories to the recipients.

Stampin’ Up Festive Farmhouse Christmas for Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good Thursday Everyone! Last Thursday I left home for our Inkin’ Krew Retreat, and today I am back home with plenty to do. So, let’s get on with the hop. Our Inkin’ Krew is very talented as I discovered (as if I didn’t already know it) at our Retreat. More on the Retreat later.

Today we have a sketch challenge. Here is the sketch

And here is what I created for it.

2

I began with a Cherry Cobbler card base and added some Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper. I love the plaids in this assortment, but have not used the windowpane check until today. I really like it as a background.

I decided against a sentiment on the front and instead just used the angel, which I fussy cut, from the Angels on Earth stamp set. The angel was stamped in Cherry Cobbler on a scrap of the Festive Farmhouse DSP wood grain.

2

The backdrop for the angel is the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder which is on the Galvanized Metallic Paper. I then distressed it by sponging Cherry Cobbler and Soft Suede inks over it, then sanded it lightly to give it a worn look. The edges are bent a bit and the corners curled.

This was Liquid Glued to the Festive Farmhouse DSP. A strip of the Braided Linen Trim is wrapped around the mat and Tin Tile and taped on the back. This panel was then Liquid Glued to the card base.

1

The Angel also received a little sponging (very little!) with Soft Suede and is adhered over the Braided Linen Trim with Stampin’ Dimensionals. This finishes the front. I think the photo above shows the distressing of the Tin Tile.

The inside got some corner interest from the corner stamp in Angels on Earth, which are stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla. The sentiment is also in Cherry Cobbler  from Angels on Earth. This panel was adhered to another mat of Festive Farmhouse DSP windowpane check with Liquid Glue and the whole Liquid Glued into the card base.

3

The Medium Very Vanilla envelope has an angel on the front and one on the flap, all in Cherry Cobbler.

Amy, Mary, Sue and I were among those who attended the retreat. It was a wonderful time at a beautiful cabin in the woods of the Chattahoochee National Forest. I am so happy that I was able to go. We made cards, got to know each other better and had a fantastic host who cooked for us and saw that we had a great space in which to make cards.

Stampin’ Up! Woodland Anniversary

Good Monday to you All! Well, it is Monday, but, hey, a new week ahead. Florence is waning and I hope all of you in her path are recovering.

Before we get started with today’s card, just a quick word about the Stampin’ Up Clearance Rack….you can now get Fast Fuse, both dispenser and refills for 1/2 price as long as supplies last. The Clearance Rack was refreshed today, so don’t wait if you want some bargains.

My card today was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches challenge

freshly made sketches

And it also follows the color challenge of Cupcake Inspirations

I chose the brown and green, not the football theme.

Here is the card I created. The couple who will receive this love the woods and the outdoors, so the Woodland Textured Embossing Folder was a no-brainer! In fact, the marriage proposal occured in a deer stand.

My card base is Shaded Spruce and the mats are Soft Suede.

I began by using the Woodland TIEF on a panel of Festive Farmhouse DSP for the basis of the front. To follow the Freshly Made Sketches sketch, I colored three of the trees with my Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker. This was adhered to the mat with Liquid Glue. A length of Linen Thread was wrapped around the left side and tied in a small bow.

wild wing creations-1

The sentiment is from Banners for You, stamped in Shaded Spruce on a scrap of the Festive Farmhouse DSP. I stamped the frame of Anniversary in Soft Suede and used the coordinating Bunch of Banners framelit to cut it out. The Happy was stamped in Shaded Spruce also and cut with my Stampin Trimmer. Oh, yes, I stamped the sentiments off once before stamping on my DSP. I ran my Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker around the edge of the Happy piece to help it stand out from the background. Both sentiments were attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the inside, the small deer from Dashing Deer was stamped in Soft Suede. The sentiment is from Better Together and is stamped off once Shaded Spruce. The leaves in the corner are also stamped off once and are in the Rooted in Nature stamp set.

wild wing creations-1

The sentiment panel was then adhered to a Soft Suede mat with Liquid Glue and into the card base, also with Liquid Glue.

The envelope flap has more of the Festive Farmhouse DSP and the little deer shows up again on the front of the envelope.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card. I welcome your comments.

Host code: RKS93T47 This is good for the remainder of the month of September.
