Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team Blog Hop Celebrates Spring

inkin-krew-blog-hop-banner2Hello Everyone! Back once again for our monthly team blog hop. How can it be nearly the middle of March already??? Wow! Spring is on its way, and I am sure all will be happy to see it.

Spring is definitely on this Blog Hop, since that is the theme. We can use any products we choose, not just Stampin’ UP!, though most of us will use, at least primarily, Stampin’ Up! products. And why not? SU has many wonderful sets that shout ‘SPRING’.

My card uses the spring-like Gingham Gala and the adorable Fable Friends stamp set. I really love the You Inspire Me with the daffodils, and His Grace, which is what Easter is all about, but decided today to keep it lighthearted and fun.

So, Enjoy the hop and please see what the others have created.

I began with stamping the duck family in Smoky Slate ink on Whisper White card stock, and colored them in with my Stampin’ Blends Markers. I used Smoky Slate for the mama duck, Light Daffodil Delight for the ducklings, and Light and Dark Calypso Coral for their bill and feet. Their clothes are Light and Dark Pool Party, Light and Dark Petal Pink, Light Highland Heather and Light Granny Apple Green, which is darker than I thought it would be. I used my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to fill in the eyes, and some feathers on the mama duck.

While I was coloring the ducks I decided the background was too plain, so I used my Aqua Painter to pick up some color from the lid of my Pool Party Classic Stampin’ Pad, and did a very light color wash for a hint of sky. The grass is from Fable Friends and Sheltering Tree, and is stamped in Granny Apple Green.

This art piece was adhered  with Liquid Glue to a mat of Gingham Gala 6″x6″ Designer Series Paper in Daffodil Delight. I used the smaller check for this as well as for the scalloped circle behind the sentiment.

I wrapped a length of retired Daffodil Delight 1/4″ cotton ribbon around this panel, taping it on the back. I used a strip of Tear & Tape to hold it in place.

The sentiment is from Fable Friends and stamped in Granny Apple Green on Whisper White and cut with the smallest Stitched Shapes circle. Liquid Glue adhered this to a mat of Daffodil Delight card stock cut with a scalloped circle die from Layering Circle Framelits, then onto the larger Gingham Gala scalloped circle. Stampin’ Dimensionals were used to adhere this to the card front.

My card base is Whisper White with a mat of Daffodil Delight which I ran through my Big Shot with the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Folder. The mat was Liquid Glued to the card base. The art piece was then attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

A small bow of the same 1/4″ Daffodil Delight Cotton Ribbon finishes the front being adhered with a rolled up Glue Dot.

On the inside, I stamped more Granny Apple Green grass and another sentiment from Fable Friends, also in Granny Apple Green.

The row of ducklings was stamped in Smoky Slate on Whisper White using my Stamparatus. The ducklings are colored with Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends, and their clothes are in the same Blends colors as used on the front. Light Calypso Coral Blends colors their bills and feet.

This liner was adhered to another panel of the Daffodil Delight Gingham Gala DSP, onto a Subtle dry embossed mat of Daffodil Delight and into the card base, all with Liquid Glue.

For the envelope I chose to use more of the Gingham jGala DSP on the flap and stamped the mama Duck in Smoky Slate over a row of Granny Apple Green Grass from the same stamp set. I colored her bill and feet in Light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends and her clothes in Daffodil Delight.

I don’t think you can get more “SPRING” than this. Gotta love it.

Oh, yes, here in Iowa it has finally gotten out of the freezer and into the 40 + degree range, so we are seeing our snow piles and ice finally melt. And, the birds are starting to sing and my friend saw Red-winged Blackbirds yesterday, a harbinger of spring.

BRING ON SPRING! We are ready for it!

I hope you enjoy today’s hop with our many talented team members. Card cuts and products used for this card are below. Please leave comments below as well. Thanks for hopping with us.

Stampin’ Up! Southern Serenade Birthday

Good Friday morning to you all! It is a pretty day today here in the heartland. What a Blessing God has given us. We have had a week of glorious weather, though it is warmer today than I prefer. My prayers go out for all those in the path of Florence…they are not having such a glorious day.

My card today is for a woman’s birthday, so I used the very feminine Southern Serenade stamp set. The sentiments are from At Home With You (front) and Beautiful You on the inside.

wild wing creations-4

I began by stamping the floral bouquet in the Southern Serenade set in StazOn Black on Whisper White. Using my Blender Pen and Blueberry Bushel stamp pad (squeezing the closed pad to get some ink in the lid), I colored in the flowers, then gave them a Daffodil Delight center with my Stampin’ Write Marker. The Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Write Marker filled in the leaves. I then used the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to emboss the whole panel before cutting it with the largest of the scalloped Layering Ovals Framelits.

This was adhered with Liquid Glue to a Blueberry Bushel oval cut with the largest plain one from Layering Ovals Framelits.

wild wing creations-1

My card base is Blueberry Bushel. A mat of Daffodil Delight was first embossed with the Swirls and Curls Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing folder. I wrapped a length of Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon around this and Liquid Glued it to the front. Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the Oval to the yellow mat.

I stamped the sentiment in Blueberry Bushel on a Whisper white scrap and used my Paper Snips to cut the ends. The Blueberry Bushel Stampin’ Write Marker edged this piece nicely. It is attached over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A small Polka Dot Tulle bow is attached with a Glue Dot.

On the inside I stamped the sentiments from Beautiful You in Blueberry Bushel and flowers from Southern Serenade in StazOn Black in each corner. These were colored the same as the front. This liner was Liquid Glued to a Daffodil Delight mat and into the card base.

For the envelope I used the Swirls and Curls embossing folder to do the flap and stamped the floral image from Southern Serenade in Blueberry Bushel on the front.

I hope you like this card. I think it very feminine. Please leave comments below.

Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop with Delightful Daisies

Blog hop headerGood morning, All! Well, I think we have finally turned a corner on the seasons. After snow on Sunday we have seen temperatures about 20 degrees below normal….until yesterday. Now, we are approaching temps where they should be for this time of year. The farmers around here are happy for that, as they are 2-3 weeks behind in their spring work.

That said, let’s get on with the hop. Today our Inkin’ Krew  has a full slate of talented hoppers, and many lovely projects for you.

Our hop this week is based on this sketch.

april 12 challenge

And this is the card I created. This is such a cheerful, happy card! it is sure to brighten someone’s day.

wild wing creations-4

I began with a Night of Navy card base and added a mat of Daffodil Delight. Over this I added a panel of Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper. Then the fun began.

A strip of Night of Navy card stock run through the Big Shot in one of the Petal Pair embossing folders, forms the background for the focal point. This was matted to another panel of Daffodil Delight. Liquid Glue adhered them to each other and to the card base.

Using the Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin’ Pad, I stamped 4 daisies and punched them out with the coordinating punch. This punch is included in the Daisy Delight Bundle, allowing you to save 10% over the individual prices.

wild wing creations-6

With my bone folder, I curved the petals of each daisy, then Liquid Glued them together, offsetting the petals a bit with each layer. I only used 3 of the punched out daisies. I will use the other one on another project.

With the Petal Palette Bundle, you also get the Petals and More Thinlits, also at a 10% discount, and I used the leafy branch to cut a couple of branches to go behind my daisy. I cut one in Pear Pzazz and one in Whisper White. I also cut one in Vellum, but decided I wouldn’t use it on this card. But, I saved it!

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I save stuff. I might need it later. Do you do that too? Well, some demonstrators only keep current products, but I keep all the ones I like, and I use them. That said, my other leaf, also cut in Pear Pzazz and Whisper White, is from the Botanical Builders Thinlits, now retired. It was the perfect leaf for this project.

I arranged these behind where I wanted to place the daisy, then Liquid Glued the stem ends under the daisy, leaving the leafy ends free to ‘blow in the breeze’. I did cut apart the Whisper White branch so I could arrange the leaves more effectively.

Over this I attached the assembled daisy with a Stampin’ Dimensional. The daisy is finished with a Faceted Gem.

wild wing creations-1

For the sentiment, I inked the Happy Birthday portion of the sentiment in Avant Garden, (which is also now retired) in Night of Navy and stamped it on Whisper White. I used this sentiment partly for the size and partly for the font. It was perfect for what I wanted the finished project to be. This was die cut using the die from Petals and More Thinlits. After cutting it I edged the sentiment piece with my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker, just to give it a little extra Something. This was attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

This completes the front of the card.

wild wing creations-5

For the inside, a Night of Navy sentiment from Southern Serenade, which is in the Occasions Catalog is centered on a panel of Whisper White. in each of the four corners, I stamped the small daisy from Daisy Delight in Daffodil Yellow. This panel was Liquid Glued to a mat of Daffodil Yellow and onto a mat of the daisies from the Delightful Daisy DSP. This piece was then liquid glued into the card base.

For the envelope, a strip of the Delightful Daisy DSP covers the flap, and a big Daisy Delight daisy is stamped on the front.

wild wing creations-3

I hope you like this card. I think it is cheerful and fun, and sure to be well received.
