Good Thursday everyone. I have been absent from the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop for awhile, but thought it time to get back in the swing of things. I hope you enjoy my card, made with the ultra-lovely Prized Peony bundle. Today we are working from a sketch.
This is a simple sketch, and I took a few liberties with it. Here is my card.
I began with my card base in Petal Pink card stock, to which I adhered a panel of Peony Garden Designer Series Paper that I had embossed with the Wrapped in Texture Embossing Folder. This panel was originally cut to 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. After trimming with the border die in the Prized Peony Bundle it was the perfect size for the sketch.
The sentiment from Beautiful Autumn is stamped in Gray Granite on Whisper White card stock. I cut it out using the stitched rectangle die in the Ornate Layers dies.
The beautiful peony in the Prized Peony stamp set was stamped in Gray Granite on Whisper White, colored with Soft Sea Foam and Petal Pink Stampin’ Write Markers, then cut with the matching die from the bundle. To get the placement I wanted, the stem covered up part of the sentiment, so I used Liquid Glue to adhere the sentiment to the stem and Stampin’ Dimensionals attached the whole thing to the card front. A few Pearls Basic Jewels complete the front.
For the inside, I stamped the lovely peony in stamped off once Gray Granite on a 3 3/4″ x 5″ liner of Whisper White card stock. This was adhered to a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of Gray Granite, and the whole Liquid Glued into the card base. I did not add a sentiment as this card requires a hand written message.
You may look in the annual catalog at the Peony Garden Suite and see that the Designer Series Paper appears to have crumb cake as one of the colors, thus wondering why I am using Gray Granite. Due to the vagaries of printing, colors are not always what they appear to be. In this case, the brownish look is actually Gray Granite. Either way, it is lovely!
This finished the card, but the envelope needs dressing up. We can’t have a naked envelope! I stamped another of the lovely large peony on the front and added a piece of the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper to the flap. The peony was colored the same as the one on the front of the card.

This set caught my eye first thing! It was one of the first things I ordered, and I love your design, Julie. I used it for a wedding card for my granddaughter too. It is too warm in this valley for peonies…..but I’d have them if I could!

My friend, you have not lost your touch while you’ve been away! Your creation is so beautiful and it’s a peony that is not full of ants! Oh, how I loved them up north BUT, I could never bring them into the house. Have a blessed day.

True enough about the ants. I think they have a symbiotic relationship with the peonys! If I bring them in, I try to shake off all the ants first. They smell SO good! Thanks for your kind comments. It is good to be back.

Thanks for the welcome back, Susan! It is good to be back. And thank you for your kind words. I like the lacy look with the peony. Iowa is recovering. We are a tough bunch. Economically, I don’t know how it has affected everyone, the farmers have suffered a great loss, but it sounds like the USDA is trying to help them with disaster payments of some kind for their crops that were destroyed. I drove through that area Monday, it it is unbelievable how flat the corn is. A mess for sure.Thank you for your concern.
