Stampin’ Up Festive Farmhouse Christmas for Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good Thursday Everyone! Last Thursday I left home for our Inkin’ Krew Retreat, and today I am back home with plenty to do. So, let’s get on with the hop. Our Inkin’ Krew is very talented as I discovered (as if I didn’t already know it) at our Retreat. More on the Retreat later.

Today we have a sketch challenge. Here is the sketch

And here is what I created for it.

I began with a Cherry Cobbler card base and added some Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper. I love the plaids in this assortment, but have not used the windowpane check until today. I really like it as a background.

I decided against a sentiment on the front and instead just used the angel, which I fussy cut, from the Angels on Earth stamp set. The angel was stamped in Cherry Cobbler on a scrap of the Festive Farmhouse DSP wood grain.

The backdrop for the angel is the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder which is on the Galvanized Metallic Paper. I then distressed it by sponging Cherry Cobbler and Soft Suede inks over it, then sanded it lightly to give it a worn look. The edges are bent a bit and the corners curled.

This was Liquid Glued to the Festive Farmhouse DSP. A strip of the Braided Linen Trim is wrapped around the mat and Tin Tile and taped on the back. This panel was then Liquid Glued to the card base.

The Angel also received a little sponging (very little!) with Soft Suede and is adhered over the Braided Linen Trim with Stampin’ Dimensionals. This finishes the front. I think the photo above shows the distressing of the Tin Tile.

The inside got some corner interest from the corner stamp in Angels on Earth, which are stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla. The sentiment is also in Cherry Cobbler  from Angels on Earth. This panel was adhered to another mat of Festive Farmhouse DSP windowpane check with Liquid Glue and the whole Liquid Glued into the card base.

The Medium Very Vanilla envelope has an angel on the front and one on the flap, all in Cherry Cobbler.

Amy, Mary, Sue and I were among those who attended the retreat. It was a wonderful time at a beautiful cabin in the woods of the Chattahoochee National Forest. I am so happy that I was able to go. We made cards, got to know each other better and had a fantastic host who cooked for us and saw that we had a great space in which to make cards.

  1. Perfect use of the angel for the sketch. This is on my order for October. I almost bought it back in August. The inside of your card is stunning!
