Stampin’ Up! Still Night in the Woodland for Happy Inkin’ Thursday

I hope you all have a Tremendous Thursday following our weekly hop today.

Not only do we have a blog hop, yesterday was the first day everyone could order from the new Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog. There are many “must have” stamp sets and bundles in this catalog, so I am sure you can find something you must have! Today we have a color challenge, and for me it was a challenge! I normally wouldn’t think about putting a pale green with the autumn gold of Crushed Curry and the dark brown of Early Espresso. Surprisingly, I think it works!

And here is what I created using that challenge as inspiration.

I began with an Early Espresso card base, then added a Mint Macaron mat.

The art piece is Whisper White, though it doesn’t look much like Whisper White! That is primarily because I sponge brayered the embossing folder.

The Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is probably my favorite. Using my sponge brayer, I layered some Sahara Sand ink on the FLAT side (the side that says ‘Sizzix’), then stamped some trees using the lone tree from Rooted in Nature, also on this side of the folder. For the trees I used Crushed Curry and Early Espresso, sometimes inking directly and sometimes using my Stampin’ Write markers to make them different. I also varied the height of the trees to give the illusion of a forest.

I also used a stamp from Sheltering Tree to make what look to me like fallen leaves in Crushed Curry at the bottom of the panel. I then carefully placed my Whisper White card stock inside the folder and ran it through the Big Shot. This technique left some of the birch marks in Crushed Curry, which I didn’t want, so I filled them in with my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write marker. To bring in a bit more Mint Macaron, I stamped a few leaves on the ground using the spring from Floral Frames.

Next up is the branch on which the owl sits. It is cut with the framelit die from the Still Night Bundle (purchasing the stamps and dies as a bundle saves you 10% over buying them individually) from one of the white sheets  of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack. I cut two more from Early Espresso Card Stock and used Liquid Glue to adhere them one on top of the other.This added some dimension and separated the branch from the background. Again using my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker, I added some ‘birch’ marks to tie it in with the embossed background trees.

The owl was stamped in Early Espresso on a darker sheet of the Wood Textures DSP and adhered over the branch with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment, from Floral Frames, is stamped in Early Espresso on Whisper White and cut using a Layering Ovals Framelit. The mat, in Mint Macaron, is cut with a scalloped oval, also from Layering Ovals. The Crushed Curry sprigs are also from the Floral Frames Stamp Set. The sentiment is Liquid Glued to the mat and then adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On the inside, the Sheltering Tree sentiment is stamped near the top of a Whisper White panel in Early Espresso to leave room for a personal note. More Crushed Curry sprigs fill the corners. This panel was adhered with Liquid Glue to a Mint Macaron mat and into the card base.

For the Very Vanilla envelope, the Rooted in Nature tree adorns the front in Crushed Curry and Early Espresso, while the flap gets….an OWL! I stamped the branch from the Still Night stamp set, then the owl. Both are in Early Espresso.
