Happy Inkin’ Thursday Christmas

Blog hop headerGood Thursday morning Everyone! I hope it is a good Thursday for you. My goodness, but the time does fly. Tomorrow is the last day of August and Labor Day will soon be in the past. With those thoughts in mind, I thought perhaps it a good idea to get going on Christmas cards. We have a sketch challenge today,

And here is the card I created from that inspiration.

Of course, some of Stampin’ Up! promotions end with the closing of August, but we get to look forward to September 5, the first day you can order from the new Holiday Catalog! Woo-Hoo!

If you have trouble with color combinations, just get some Designer Series Paper and the colors are there for you. The DSP I chose to use today is from the Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. There are so many lovely patterns in this collection it is hard to decide which to use!

I chose the holly and pines pattern and ran it through my Big Shot with the Subtles Dynamic Textured Impressions Folder. All the products used in today’s card will be available from the Holiday Catalog on September 5.

The lacy design on the edge of this panel is die cut with the design from Petals and More Thinlits (in the annual catalog). I cut two of these and overlapped them to fit my panel, then Liquid Glued this piece to the back of the panel, trimming off any excess from the ends. The assembled panel was then Liquid Glued to my Merry Merlot card base.

The sentiment panel was from the Still Night Bundle and inked with Merry Merlot on Sahara Sand card stock. This was cut with a die also from the Still Night Bundle. Remember, when you bundle, you save 10%.

To make this sentiment piece long enough, I used my magnetic platform to assure proper placement, then only cut about 3/4 through the die. To do this, simply place your top sandwich layer where you want the Big Shot to stop cutting, then run it through. Turn the die around, match up the cut lines, and do the same from the other end to get the length you need.

Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere this to the card front.

I thought it was a bit too plain for my taste, so I layered on some die cuts from Pretty Pines and the Still Night Bundle, cutting them from Tranquil Tide and Merry Merlot. These were Liquid Glued to, and under, the sentiment panel. A Linen Thread Bow, made by wrapping it around 3 fingers 3 times and tied in the middle, was adhered to the pines with a Glue Dot.

The inside is layered Sahara Sand, Joyous Noel DSP and the sentiment stamped in Merry Merlot on Sahara Sand. This sentiment is from the His Light stamp set.

The envelope flap was finished off with a piece of the , yep, you guessed it, Joyous Noel DSP. The front has some little pine boughs from the Winter Woods stamp set. I love the way Stampin’ Up! has products that work so well with each other.

  1. Great use of the DSP and I love how you layered everything. When I saw the edge, I wondered how you had done it and with what…I will be able to do it because I have all the tools needed! Fantastic card!

  2. What a beautiful card. I especially like you running your DSP through the embossing folder. It added the perfect top note to your card. Thanks!
