A Tremendous Tuesday to you all! Time for another Inkin’ Krew Team Blog Hop, which we do every 2nd Tuesday of the month. This month our theme is “Fall Frenzy” and I have chosen to use the Rooted in Nature Designer Series Paper, Leaves from the limited time Blended Seasons Bundle (available for you on September 5) and a sentiment from All Things Thanks.
Fall is my favorite time of year…the days are getting short, and cooler, and the beauty of God’s Creation that surrounds us is nearly overwhelming. I am blessed to live where we have the changing seasons, and there are things I like about each. The months of October and November bring harvest, changing colors and the beginning of the holiday season. It also brings relief from the HEAT of summer, so, yes, it is my favorite time of year.
My interpretation of the fall season can take many different paths, but for today I am using the colors in the Nature’s Poem DSP as my starting point. Another favorite DSP is Wood Textures, and I think it appropriate for this card as well. If you have followed my blog at all, you know I am partial to dry embossing, so no surprise that I have used it today.
I began with the color scheme of Tranquil Tide, Grapefruit Grove and Cajun Craze, but quickly decided the Grapefruite Grove would be too light for this card. Instead, I used heat embossed copper. Here we go.
First I dry embossed a piece of Tranquil Tide with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic 3D Textured Embossing Folder, then cut it with the largest stitched frame from the Stitched Seasons dies, which are part of the Blended Seasons Bundle allowing you to save 10%. This is only available until the end of August, but it has SO very many uses, you just might want to get this while you can.
I then stamped the large leaf cluster from the same bundle in Versamark on a piece of the Nature’s Poem DSP and heat embossed it in copper. STOP! Before using the Versamark ink and embossing powders, first rub your Embossing Buddy over the paper to reduce static so you don’t get little bits of embossing where you don’t want it. It just saves a lot of time trying to brush off the excess.
I fussy cut these, then used the openwork leaf die to cut one leaf from Copper Foil Sheets and one from a piece of Whisper White I had watercolored and saved from a previous project.
When I began to arrange these on the large stitched die cut, I realized it was too big, so I embossed a second piece of Tranquil Tide and cut it using the second largest die. This works much better. I will save the other one for future project.
I chose a compatible sheet from the Wood Textures DSP and layered it over a mat of Tranquil Tide, then wrapped a length of Burlap Ribbon around it. This was attached to my Cajun Craze card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the stitched die cut allowed me to swirl a bit of Copper Metallic Thread around before adhering it over the Burlap Ribbon. I dry fit the leaves so I would know how much room I had for my sentiment, which was stamped in Versamark on the reverse side of a scrap from the mat. Again, using Copper Embossing Powder, this sentiment from Tropical Chic was heat embossed using my Heat Tool.
The ends were cut using the Triple Banner Punch. I thought it looked too plain, so I simply stuck the edges in the Versamark Pad and heat set the Copper Embossing Powder. Now it looks good! This was adhered to the Tranquil Tide piece with Liquid Glue.
I arranged the leaves and used Liquid Glue to attach them to the Tranquil Tide. Where the large leaves at the top hung over the edge I used small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals, cut from the edge. One small leaf was Liquid Glued to the Wood Textures mat and this card front is finished!
On the inside, Versamark, Copper embossing powder and my Heat Tool give a bit of class to the sentiment from All Things Thanks and the single leaf from Color Your Season, on another Wood Textures Panel. This was adhered with Liquid Glue to a mat of Tranquil Tide and the whole was Liquid Glued into my card base.
For the Very Vanilla envelope, a bit of the Nature’s Poem DSP covers the flap, but I thought it was too plain. Another stamped and copper embossed leaf really dressed it up! On the front, I stamped the openwork leaf in Cajun Craze, and two smaller leaves in stamped off once Tranquil Tide. Again, I thought it needed some copper, so I stamped part of the openwork leaf over the others in Versamark and copper heat embossed it. Maybe not such a good idea, but it is done and will stay that way as I am not willing to make another envelope.
I hope you enjoy the hop today, as we have some very good talent waiting to show you their projects. Come back next month! Card cuts and products used for this project are below.
