Happy Inkin’ Thursday wedding card

Good morning Everyone! What a beautiful week we have had. Though we missed all the rains, we also missed the tornadoes, which is okay by me. The tornadoes we don’t need, the rain we do. Very dry here.

Today’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop centers around a sketch challenge, which I have chosen to do as a wedding card. Here is the sketch:

And here is my contriubution:

I like a tone on tone card, especially for a wedding, so decided on a totally white card, using texture to dress it up. Well, maybe a little silver also. I also like a larger card for a wedding. This one is 5″ x 7″. The only stamping on this card is the sentiment.

My card base is Whisper White. The first layer is dry embossed with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The banner was also dry embossed using the new Tufted TIEF. For the banner, I used a strip cut from the card stock when I cut the card base. The ends were cut with my Paper Snips Scissors.  This was Liquid Glued to the Softly Falling mat. I thought I embossed it straight, and cut it straight, but the lines are off. Not sure why, but I am not losing sleep over it.

For the sentiment, I used the Special Celebrations stamp set, stamping it with Versamark ink and heat embossing it Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. To get the placement of the sentiment perfect on the already-die-cut piece, I used my Stamparatus. Works great every time. I tend to get things on a slant if I just eyeball it, so the Stamparatus is a great tool for me.

This sentiment piece was cut with one of the dies from the Stitched Seasons Framelits. I love this shape and the little ‘stitches’. All of the die cutting for this card was done with dies from this set. The bow was cut from Silver Foil Sheets and Liquid Glued to the sentiment piece.

(If you like the dies used on this card, you are IN LUCK, because yesterday was the first day customers could order this limited edition Color Your Season stamp set/dies/bundle. You can order them separately of course, but if you order both the stamps and the coordinating dies in the bundle, you will save 10%. In addition, there are 10 new colors of watercolor pencils, which are wonderful. They are NOT part of the bundle. This offer is good ONLY during the month of August. Just sayin’. More info below.)

Stampin’ Dimensionals were used to adhere this sentiment/bow over the banner and onto the mat. The mat was then Liquid Glued to the card base.

On the inside, I rounded the corners using my Envelope Punch Board, then used a small flourish die from Stitched Seasons to cut 3 of the corners. The fourth corner is dry embossed using the Lovely Floral TIEF.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment, again from Special Celebrations, in Versamark and, using my Heat Tool, heat embossed it in Silver. Liquid Glue adheres this panel into the card base.

For the envelope, since there is no stamped image and no DSP to use, I dry embossed the flap with the Softly Falling TIEF.  The little silver design on the front was stamped with one of the smaller stamps in Accented Blooms. It is perfect for a corner, and the wee small heart makes it a great image for a wedding card. Even if I do have it upside down!

This was a quick and easy card to do, but looks much more complex. At least I think it does. Sometimes I have to s-t-r-e-t-c-h myself to create a lovely card using no Designer Series Paper and very little ink/stamping.

I really like the layers of embossed pieces and may do more of that in the future. Thanks for stopping by, and don’t forget to leave a comment.

  1. I totally get what you mean with the straight eyeballing! Your card is lovely and an all white card is very difficult for me to do but, obviously, not for you. Glad you got that needed rain. Tornadoes scare me more than hurricanes.
