Another Thursday has rolled around and now we are past the mid-point of July. Summer will be over before you know it, with the kids back to school and leaves falling from the trees as we prepare for winter.
Today is our joint Blog Hop with our friends from north of the border, so let’s get on with it! We have 2 challenges for joint hops, a color challenge and a sketch challenge, of which we can choose either, or both. I have chosen to use both today.
Here are our challenges
.
And here is my answer to the challenges
I began by spritzing a panel of Watercolor paper with water, then ‘painting’ it with Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss and Petal Pink inks. I set this aside to dry, then cut the card stock for the rest of the card.
For the inside, I used liquid glue to adhere a panel of Bermuda Bay to my Petal Pink card base. On a piece of Very Vanilla I stamped the dragonfly in stamped off twice Blackberry Bliss, then used the Blackberry Bliss full strength to stamp the sentiment. The sentiment is from Flourishing Phrases, as is the sentiment on the front of the card.
This sentiment panel was Liquid Glued to a mat of Blackberry Bliss and into the card base over the Bermuda Bay mat.
On the now dry, painted watercolor panel, I again stamped the dragonfly after stamping it off once on a piece of scratch paper. This was Liquid Glued to a mat of Blackberry Bliss.
The sentiment, from Flourishing Phrases, was stamped on Vellum with Blackberry Bliss ink and heat embossed. I used Clear Embossing Powder for this. A small strip of Tear & Tape adhered this strip to the card front. The card front is attached to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I ran a piece of Linen Thread over the Blackberry Bliss ink pad a few times to color it, then let it dry while I worked on the envelope. A small bow of this colored thread is then attached with a rolled up Glue Dot.
The envelope flap is ‘painted’ with my Aqua Painter using ink from the lid of the three colors – Blackberry Bliss, Petal Pink and Bermuda Bay. This needed to dry as well, then I smoothed it out using my fingers and the Bone Folder.
On the front I stamped another dragonfly in Blackberry Bliss, after stamping it off once.
I think these colors worked beautifully together and I like the simplicity of the sketch. Now, on with the Hop! Please leave comments below. Also below, see card cuts and products used for this project.
