Stampin’ Up! Cool Treats Birthday

Good Friday Morning Everyone! We have had some springlike weather the past couple of days, but the meteorologist says we are back to ‘normal’ winter weather next week, whatever THAT is! Colder for sure, and windy. He also said we can have warmth, cold, rain, snow, and wind. In other words, Mother Nature can throw just about anything, or all of it, at us!

My card today is for a guy whose business is Frozen Custard, so I thought I would use the now retired Cool Treats Designer Series Paper (you can substitute whatever for your card) for his birthday. He also wears, get this, ORANGE BOW TIES! I am never sure whether or not I should claim him! 🙂

Anyway, the card is kind of cute, I think, and I hope he likes it.

I started with a Calypso Coral card base and adhered a mat made from the DSP that resembles a waffle cone to it with Liquid Glue. To the left of center I attached a strip from the DSP with the sundaes all over it, after I had cut the end with my Triple Banner Punch. I use this punch a lot.

Using the Layering Squares Framelits I cut a square a little less than 3″, but I don’t remember which die I used. Measure it. From Whisper White I cut a slightly smaller square, maybe 2-3/4″? with the stitched Shapes Framelits. It was the largest of the stitched shape squares. To this I stamped the sentiment in Calypso Coral with a stamp from the Picture Perfect Birthday. Liquid Glue holds it to the Calypso Coral mat.

From a scrap of the Sundae paper (not the Sunday Paper!), I fussy cut one sundae, attached a couple of Mini Stampin’ dimensionals and adhered it to the square. At this point I Liquid Glued the focal squares to the front of the card.

Since he wears orange bow ties, I wanted to get a bow tie on there somehow, so I cut one from Calypso Coral card stock, softened it up some with my bone folder and put it together with Glue Dots. It is adhered to the square with Liquid Glue. Stampin’ Up! has a very informative video on how to use this punch. You can find it here.

Now that the front is done, let’s tackle the inside of the card. I think the inside should show as much care as the front, so I try to make them look really nice. For this one, I again used the ‘waffle cone’ paper for the base mat, and the sundaes for the second mat.

For the sentiment panel, I used Whisper White, stamped with a Calypso Coral sentiment from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set. To help it stand out from the mat, I simply ran the edge of the panel over my Calypso Coral ink pad. Makes a nice, neat edge, not too wide.

For the envelope I fussy cut a row of the sundaes in their little squares and Liquid Glued them across the bottom of the front of the envelope. The Waffle Cone paper covers the flap.

It is a bit of an unusual card for a guy, but perfect for this particular guy I think.
