As promised, here is today’s card. It is not a Christmas card. It is not a holiday card of any kind, nor is it a seasonal card.
We have a new addition to our family….extended family that is. This calls for a special card for a special little boy.
I began with a Very Vanilla card base, onto which I Liquid Glued a Soft Sky mat. A panel of Falling in Love Designer Series Paper (retired) was adhered to a mat of Very Vanilla, around which I wrapped a strand of Silver Metallic Thread three times, taping it to the back. This was Liquid Glued to the Soft Sky mat.
Next I stamped the moon and baby from Moon Baby stamp set in Smokey Slate and colored him in with the new Stampin’ Blend alcohol markers, using the Pool Party and Daffodil Delight markers. You will note that this baby has HAIR! Yes, ’tis true, in our family babies are born with a lot of hair. I used my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker for the hair. This was then fussy cut. I cut off the star, pierced the moon with the Paper-piercing Tool, wrapped more Silver Metallic Thread around the moon, tied it and taped the ends to the back.
Another hole pierced in the star allowed me to run a strand of Silver Metallic Thread through it and tie it to the moon, leaving it to dangle below.
A Soft Sky square cut with the Layering Squares Framelits was adhered to a Very Vanilla scalloped square, also from Layering Squares. The Baby and moon were attached to the layered squares on point with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The square was also adhered to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To finish the front, I stamped the sentiment from Moon Baby in Smokey Slate, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to get it straight. Hmm….not quite finished. Maybe some stars? Stamped stars? Die cut foil stars? None of those. Enameled Shapes! Of course. The stars in the Brights Enameled shapes are perfect. Card front done!
On the inside I layered more of the Falling in Love DSP onto a Soft Sky mat. Another scalloped square, this time in Soft Sky, as a mat for the Very Vanilla square and set on point was perfect for the sentiment. This also is from the Moon Baby stamp set and stamped in Smokey Slate.
The three stars from the same stamp set were stamped in So Saffron and colored in with my Stampin’ Blend marker. On to the envelope!
Another Baby and moon stamped in Smokey Slate and colored as for the card fill the lower left corner, while 3 stars fit in the other corner. The flap received more of the Falling in Love DSP to finish this project.
I enjoyed the change of pace from Christmas and Thanksgiving cards, but have many more of those to make, so I better get with it.
Another nice day in Iowa tells me I SHOULD put up some outside lights today, or I will have to do it in the cold if I procrastinate.
