Joy at Christmas!

Hello everyone! Thank you for joining the Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop today. We have a talented group showing you some lovely Christmas projects, so come on along!

My contribution for the hop uses the Large Letters Framelits and Letters for You Stamps, as well as the Painted Harvest stamp set and Season to Sparkle bundle. Demonstrator Carol Slack was making a card on the train (we both took Amtrak to On Stage and met on the train), which I am CASeing here.

I took supplies with me to On Stage Live and had a sort of idea of what I wanted to do. Let me tell you…know exactly what you want to do when you take supplies with you. If you don’t, you don’t have what you need. I forgot sentiment stamps and envelopes!

I had decided to use the Holly Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and a color scheme of Real Red, Garden Green and Whisper White. After seeing Carol’s card I knew HOW I wanted to use it. The photos are not best quality as I did not have proper lighting.

front greenI did not have the glitter paper that she used on hers, nor did I have red glitter, so I changed up the colors a bit.

I began by embossing a panel of Real Red with the Holly TIEF, which I liquid glued to the Whisper White card base.

Next I cut the mat in Garden Green and a smaller Whisper White panel for my art piece. Using the Painted Harvest stamp set and Garden Green ink, I stamped the smaller flower twice, stamping off once each time and rotating the stamp.

The berries on my ‘wreath’ are from the Season to Sparkle bundle and are stamped in Real red.

The only glittery paper I had was from the retired pack of 6″ x 6″ pastel glitter paper and I no longer remember what it was called. Of course, the packaging is long gone! Anyway, one of the colors was green, so I die cut J and Y from that using the Large Letters framelits. These were adhered on either side of the wreath with Mini-Stampin’ Dimensionals. detail

This art piece was attached to the mat and the whole adhered to the embossed card front. A little bow die cut in Real Red using the Season to Sparkle bundle, finished off the wreath. Maybe when I get home I can find the sentiment that I want to use on the front that says ‘at Christmas’ in small type. If not, it will remain as is.

The envelope will also have a wreath on the front and JOY stamped on the flap, but you will have to use your imagination for that, as I have to get this show on the road in time to join the hop before it goes live.

I did another iteration using Garden Green for the embossed Holly piece, Real Red for the mat and the letters are stamped in Real Red and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. Which do you like better?

Card cuts and products used are listed below. Products are listed for using red glimmer paper as well as the embossed version, or silver glimmer paper.

  1. Oh my goodness…I love them both! What a great design! So glad that you met another demonstrator on the train on you way to OnStage. I’m sure that you two had a great time chatting! 🙂

    1. Thank you! We did. Also visited with the Amish ladies. Mary Ellen was on the train, but not sociable. She had a sleeper and pretty much kept to herself. The others were very friendly and helpful.

  2. I can’t choose, they are both just lovely! What a fun idea with the “wreath” serving as a letter. I love them!!

    1. Thanks Jari! When I saw Carol working on cards with the embossed holly that I wanted to use for my ‘hop’ card, I loved it. Hers was the coloration of the one with the red letters, but she used the glimmer paper, which I don’t have in red. Guess I will have to get some!!!!

  3. The 6 x 6 glimmer paper was called “Glimmer Paper Assortment Pack” 🙂 AND I like the Mint Macaron better than if you had used red…but that was my favorite color! I think it’s so clever to use the wreath as an “O”…great job. I will be CASEing!

    1. Thank you Karen, both for the information on the paper and for your kind words. Please CASe. I think it is a lovely card, and I can say that because it isn’t my own design made up out of my head!
