Beautiful Monday Everyone! We had a bit of rain yesterday. Not enough, but it is a start, and I am thankful for every drop received. So, with the dust washed from the trees and things, it is a beautiful day.
Today’s card began in a totally different color. Then, I decided I didn’t think the recipient would care for that colorway, so that card beginning will finish on another day. For another purpose.
There is an anniversary this week for which I needed a card. The woman likes orchids and burgundy was one of their wedding colors. Thus, this card in its final form.
I started with a Cherry Cobbler card base. The mat for the art panel is Powder Pink. I stamped the Whisper White panel with the background image from Graceful Garden in Cherry Cobbler, then dry embossed the panel with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Embossing folder. This was the backdrop for my Climbing Orchids. This set is part of a bundle that includes the dies, which I also used here. By purchasing the bundle you save 10% over buying them individually.
I stamped the two pieces for the larger orchid with Cherry Cobbler on Powder Pink Card Stock. Then I followed up with the two pieces for two smaller orchids. While I had the Cherry Cobbler ink handy I also stamped a couple of buds and the centers for the three orchids. The centers were stamped with the three little dots in Versamark and heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
I used my bone folder to curl the edges a bit to add realism and some dimension. All the pieces of the orchids were assembled using Stampin’ Dimensionals and Mini-stampin’ Dimensionals.
The branch is cut with the die from Seasonal Layers in Early Espresso, then liquid glued to the Whisper White panel. I dry arranged the flowers, leaves and buds, then liquid glued the leaves and buds to the Whisper White panel also. The leaves were stamped in Pear Pzazz on Pear Pzazz card stock and cut with the appropriate matching die. This panel was liquid glued to the Powder Pink Mat.
I wrapped a piece of Cherry Cobbler ribbon around and taped it on the back. Next, the sentiment from Flourishing Phrases was stamped in Cherry Cobbler on a strip of Powder Pink. This was a bit tricky to get straight and to look like it was meant to be stamped that way. It is not a straight line sentiment. The words are one above the other with the ‘is a’ part in the middle. I only inked one word at a time, then used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to get everything lined up just so. This sentiment strip, and the ribbon, were Fast Fused to the art panel under the larger Orchid.
For the inside, I stamped the rest of the sentiment that goes with the one on the front, also in Cherry Cobbler. I also added Anniversary Wishes from the Falling For You stamp set. There is a single stamp for the large orchid included in the stamp set, as well as one for the smaller one. The larger one I stamped in Cherry Cobbler and added a stem from the same set in Early Espresso. Using my Stampin’ Write Powder Pink marker, I colored in the image so it would match the front. This panel was liquid glued to a Powder Pink mat and into the card base.
The envelope was graced with the same large orchid, colored after the same fashion as the inside of the card. The flap was a little challenging as the image on the card front did not fill the flap. To accommodate this quirk, I rotated it a couple of times and gave it s sort of random look.
This Climbing Orchid set is fun to use and makes a lovely card, don’t you think?
