Little Cabin on the Lake

Super Sunday everyone. Today’s card is for a family member, sort of reminiscent of a family vacation at the lake.

Since Stampin’ Up doesn’t have a cabin, I used one from Simply Refined, along with the boat and dock. It was a fun card to make.

I began with a card base in Whisper White and sponged the top part lightly with Soft Sky, having masked off the lower portion with Post It Tape, and some clouds masked with the same tape torn to look like clouds. Sort of.front

I then reversed the tape, masking off the sky. A piece of torn tape made an area for the ‘grass’ next to the ‘water’, which I sponged in Pear Pzazz. After masking off the green I sponged the water in Marina Mist, Pool Party and Pacific Point. Using Night of Navy I stamped the ripples in the water using the High Tide stamp set. Next was the line of evergreen trees, stamped along the horizon in Always Artichoke.

The cabin is stamped in Cajun Craze on Cajun Craze card stock, the boat in Cajun Craze on Very Vanilla and sponged in Cajun Craze. The oar is cut from Wood Textures DSP, and the two pine trees are cut from Color Theory DSP and sponged in Always Artichoke to tone down the white. The Dock is stamped in Basic Gray on Basic Gray card stock and all pieces cut with dies that came with the stamp set.

I used stamped off once Always Artichoke to make the shadow/reflection of the trees in the water, and Night of Navy for the dock and boat shadows.

The frame around the ‘picture’ is made with Wood Textures DSP and adhered with liquid glue. I tied the boat to the dock with some Linen Thread. All the die cut pieces were adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, except for the tree at left behind the cabin, which was liquid glued and trimmed with the edge of the card.detail

To add some dimension to the clouds and for a place to stamp the sentiment, I tore a piece of Whisper White card stock, stamped the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Smokey Slate and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals as well.

The inside received a mat of Wood Textures DSP liquid glued to the card base. The sentiment panel is Whisper White stamped in Always Artichoke. I stamped a row of the conifers along the bottom, mounted the panel on a Pacific Point mat and onto the card base. The card is finished. inside

The Medium Crumb Cake envelope received another row of the trees on the front and a piece of the Wood Textures DSP on the flap. Woo-Hoo! I hope he likes this card, and that it brings back good memories.

  1. So pretty – and really makes me want to go sit on a porch on a lake somewhere. If I can’t make my way to the ocean, a good lake would be the next best thing! You’ve hit the nail on the head with this one – and the recipient is sure to love it! 🙂
