Good Saturday to you all! I’m getting a head start on Saturday, but I am still behind in making cards for specific purposes. Whew!
My mom always sent cards to people, and I have not been very good at it. I have decided that the reason was mainly that I did not like standing in a store before a rack of cards to pick just the right one. And then, in some cases, have someone else send them that same card! It just didn’t trip my trigger, I am sure to the embarrassment of my mom.
Now that I am making cards, I send them to people I would never have considered for purchasing a card. Not only is it more personal, it is much more fun!
Ok, on with today’s card, which was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #300.
I took a few liberties with it to make this birthday card featuring leaves. And Green.
My card base of Old Olive has a mat of Soft Suede with a panel from the Delightful Daisy DSP. Card cuts at the end of the post.
Next is a rectangular mat of Soft Suede topped with a Pear Pzazz oak leaf from Vintage Leaves, stamped in Soft Suede ink and die cut with the Leaflets Framelit. I took a piece of the Burlap Ribbon and Tear & Taped it to the edge of the Soft Suede mat, then liquid glued the oak leaf, overlapping the ribbon. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere this panel to the card base.
Using Linen Thread I wrapped it three times around the lower end of the panel, taping it on the back.
I needed a small leaf for the sentiment and cut one from the Leaflets, the long skinny one, but it was too big. In my Tim Holtz bunch of leaf dies I found a small oak leaf which is what I used, cutting it from Pear Pzazz card stock. Perfect fit for the ovals without using a huge oval. The larger oval is cut using the Layering Ovals framelits and the smaller one using Stitched Shapes framelits. I liquid glued them together, stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede ink onto the leaf, using the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp, then adhered the leaf to the ovals. This piece was adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I made a small bow from the Linen Thread and used a Glue Dot to adhere it next to the oval. The card front is done.
For the inside, I used a mat of Soft Suede with a sentiment panel in Pear Pzazz. I stamped the oak leaf from Vintage Leaves in Pear Pzazz, stamped off once, to make a background for the sentiment. Then, using the Big on Birthdays stamp, I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede, liquid glued the panel to the mat and into the card base.
The Medium Crumb Cake envelope, (no naked envelopes here) received an Oak leaf on the front, and mixed leaves on the flap.
