Special Thank You

This card deviates from the standard A2 size and becomes a A7 card. For some reason it seemed appropriate for what I wanted to do. I nearly changed my mind about the size when I decided to use some of the Petal Garden DSP, which is only 6″ x 6″ in size. I find that size to not be in my favor when I want a card larger than A2. Oh, well, there are ways around it.I began with Calypso Coral for my card base and also used Very Vanilla, Black and Wild Wasabi for my color scheme. Card cuts at the end of the post.

The Very Vanilla looked a little too, um, vanilla, to suit me, so I added some stamped off once Sahara Sand ‘grunge’ from the retired Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. I did this on both of the pieces for the front and also on the inside piece. It took great constraint to NOT put it on the envelope as well!

I began building the rest of the card front with the Very Vanilla as the mat. I really like to do asymmetrical layers on my cards. Sometimes all that ‘centeredness’ bores me.

Next up is a piece of the Calypso Coral Petal Garden DSP adhered to the grungy Very Vanilla. Before I added any glue to any of the pieces, I dry assembled, which necessitated re-cutting the banner because it was too short. From the lovely ‘Whole Lot of Lovely’ DSP I cut a 2″ strip and used my Triple Banner punch to cut the end and adhered it to the DSP. A piece of Wild Wasabi ribbon (retired) wrapped over the top and taped on the back was trimmed even with the banner. This was fast fused to the banner under where the top layer would go.

My sentiment Very Vanilla panel was stamped with a sentiment and flower from the retired Gift of Love stamp set. For the sentiment I used Basic Black Classic Stampin’ pad and the flower was stamped in Wild Wasabi. I used my Wild Wasabi Stampin’ Write marker to fill in the leaves, and an Aqua Painter to lift some color from the lid of my Calypso Coral Classic Stampin’ pad to lightly color in the flowers. Three pearls from the Pearls Basic Jewels finished the flower.

This panel was liquid glued to a mat of Wild Wasabi and adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A bow in the Wild Wasabi ribbon finished the front, which was now liquid glued to the card base.

For the inside, another grungy Very Vanilla piece was stamp with a sentiment from All Things Thanks in Basic Black. The flower treatment is the same as for the front. This panel was liquid glued to some of the Whole Lot of Lovely DSP and onto a piece of Wild Wasabi. The whole thing then was liquid glued into the card base.

The envelope flap got more of the DSP and the front received a Wild Wasabi flower. I hope you like this card. To purchase supplies from me if you don’t have a demonstrator, just click on the ‘Shop Online’ button at right.
